cleaning is killing me

my routine:
Monday: I clean our basement living room and bathroom
Tuesday: I clean the bathrooms and bedroom
Wednesday: I clean the living room
Thursday: stairs and kitchen

After I clean the floors and stairs, my lower back/hips get sore. It's to the point that about an hour after I'm done cleaning and relaxing that if I get up, I can barely walk for the first few steps.

Anyone else have this problem? I would hate to leave all the cleaning to my husband. Bc u know it would only get done once a month.

Try getting a support belt to help your back. Also, search YouTube for some lower back prenatal stretches and yoga. I got tight a lot right above my tailbone and stretching helped a lot. Other than that, maybe do stairs and floors every other week and have hubby do in between? Don't stress trying to keep the house perfect. You'll remember the joy of relaxing and feeling your baby kick and move more than how clean your house was :)

  • I use a support belt on bad days. I don't use it all the time just when I need it. This is the one I use and I like it because it comes apart so you don't have to use all the part ps if you don't want to. https://www.motherhood.com/Product.asp?Product_Id=922000113&MasterCategory_Id=MC32&kpid=92200-10-M&adpos=1o8&creative=61642597565&device=t&matchtype=&network=g&gclid=CNqxs7Wx3ccCFQooaQodqvUHKA

  • Swimming has been really helpful for my hip/back pain.
I also gotta say, depending on how many people live in your house, the cleaning could also be spaced out a bit more maybe. Like if you do it once a month and DH does it once a month. Everything will still get done every 2 weeks and you'd be doing a lot less. Listen to your body.
  • I know exactly what you mean. When I over do it cleaning or hauling around my 34lb 20 month old, my lower back and hips kill me that I feel like my body locks up when I stand to go pee in the night. It's really painful.

I need a tidy and clean house to function, but I've had to cut back on what I do. It will reach a point where it's not worth it. Can you hire someone? My husband has been a great help. He does the mopping and has taken over the bathtub/shower scrubbing.

  • My husband typically does the dusting and bathrooms and i would do the floors and kitchen ect. we may have to trade for a while. lol We have two dogs and one of them is losing TONS of hair from allergies and i cant stand the amount of fur everywhere. :(
  • I hired someone to help. Maybe it isn't practical for everyone, but it was so worth the relief.

  • Whoa that's a ton of cleaning !
  • I have a 9yr old and I set up a new system with chores and points. She is working hard to get that new toy!
My husband bought me a roomba for my birthday (I love practical gifts and really wanted one) and it's been a lifesaver.
If I didn't have help, I would definitely have to hire someone to come in to do the heavier work. When I was really down and out with HG, my mom and friends came and cleaned my house. Husband has picked up slack too.
Imagine how you will feel later! Ask the hubs to chip in on the heavy duty work, allow yourself to let a few things go, ask family or hire someone! There are lots of options!

  • I'm with the other ladies. I would clean less or get help. Prenatal yoga does help some too. A clean house is not worth the pain! My back hurts when I do dishes, so I try to do them in short spurts or make my spouse do it.
