Bra help??

I cannot find any bras that fit and support. I can't be the only person with this problem! I have always worn Victoria secret 38DDD but as my belly gets bigger the underwire digs in and is super uncomfortable. Victoria secret doesn't make bras without wires for my cup size. Motherhood maternitys bras are so thin I don't like. Surely I can't be the only one in this boat! Lol.

Re: Bra help??

  • See if you can find a specialty bra store in your area (NOT Victora's Secret, can't stand them!) and have the measure you. Smaller specialty stores are better at properly fitting you and usually have a wider range of sizes available. If you're having trouble finding a bra in your size without underwire you can always look at nursing bras. They rarely come with underwire and if you're planning on nursing you'll get a lot of use out of them. If you want I can recommend the brands that I've liked for both nursing and non nursing bras. At this point in your pregnancy I recommend buying a bra that is comfortable on the tightest fitting. As you get further along your rib cage expands so you'll want the extra couple of hooks.

  • Thanks! I'll try that there just isn't a specialty bra store that's less than an hour away so I haven't tried that yet but seems that's the next step. I didn't think about nursing bras I'll start trying to find some! ;)
  • I bought some bra's that are not perfect but ok for this pregnancy. I bought some in 2 band sizes up because in my last pregnancy when I got into the 3rd tri my rib cage expanded and even my biggest bands were too tight. So you might be try a 40/42DDD in the brands you like.

Because I wear a FFs/Gs/Hs depending on the band I usually have to go to a bra boutique to get a bra that I like. I don't want to spend that kind of money for a bra I doubt I will wear for more than a few months.

If you are planning on nursing don't buy nursing bras now but wait for your milk to come in.
  • I ordered my 38G from Amazon. The local specialty lingerie store wanted over $70 for just one bra! I just measured for myself at home. There are a ton of online guides to help you.
  • The other day I went and bought some nursing bras just cheap ones from Walmart bc my boobs feel like they can't breathe and they were red and itchy and hot to the touch! The nursing bras are all cotton and add support without wiring. But I either got them too small or they aren't for me bc there are creases and lines all over my skin! Ugh! Anyway, I think I need to actually go measured somewhere and then get some supportive cotton breathable type bras. I hope you find some you love! If you do, let me know!
  • I bought expanders to make my existing ones more comfortable for now. $7

I finally found completely wireless bras that fit on Amazon. I am now a 40F and was still trying to squeeze into 40D pre-pregnancy bras. 2 bras for £12.99 is not bad.

    ETA: Brand is La Isla

  • Hey , you should check marks and Spenser they have amazing soft bras that make you feel comfy all day long , good luck :)

I think the cup size it too small and that's why it hurts. You're going to need to size up. Try to go to Nordstrom's, they have a large selection in bigger sizes. If you don't have a local one, check out out barenecessities.com. Good luck!

  • Lane Bryant is my favorite. I went from 44 DDD to 44 G, I go no wire for more comfort and their cooling no wire bras are the best things ever.
  • I will just agree that bras that fit now may work while nursing, or they might not. You won't know until you're nursing!

  • I am a 36 DDD right now and my favorite place to go is Soma. They are super helpful there too which measuring and everything. 2 bras for $59. They also have nursing bras with underwire and padding (or ones with no under wire or no padding etc) for future reference! I know personally the non padded, non wire nursing bras from target etc do not do a very good job of holding mine up. I don't feel comfortable in them unless I'm wearing a big t shirt! Hope this helps :)
  • I second the Nordstrom suggestion. They carry some of the same brands as specialty stores, so there are lots of pretty ones to choose from.

  • So glad for this post! I'm busting out of my 34DDD and haven't found anything that fits properly. I'm having the same issue with my underwire digging in, but I'm afraid to go without it because I need the support. I'm going to try Soma and Bare Necessities online.
  • Has anyone tried the Victoria's Secret Lounge bra? It has wireless cups, and wondering if it's comfy.
  • I just bought 2 from a website called Hot milk lingerie. They are in the pricey side, but I bought 2 on sale for about 30 each. I'm a 38 E, and I know they have bigger! They are also nursing bras so they will last awhile. So far so good. I'm not used to not having an underwire, but it's not so bad. And they are super cute!!!

Tried this on the other day at it was super comfortable! The girl at the store said she used them for nursing and loved them. I didn't end up buying one because I need a DDD and they only carry them up to a DD, but I totally recommend!
  • I'm so lost with bras right now. Pre-pregnancy I got everything from VS and was happy because I was a 36C. I went back Thera couple months ago and got measured and she still measure me at 36C, and I tried one on for her and showed her the bulges! So I ended up getting a 34DD and that literally only fit for a few weeks! I don't know what to do because I don't feel like I can get a good fit right now, I can't find what size I really am, and I'm afraid that I'll buy something and it won't fit in a month! But right now my reg bras leave hardcore indents in a lot of places by the time I get home from work : (

I bought one! It's so soft and comfy.
    :D
  • The genie bra is amazing! I normally love underwire and full support so it is unusual for me to like these padded soft bras with no clasps or anything. I got 2 for $10.00 at Amazon. It's totally worth it to try for $10.00. I'm more than an E cup now and the XL size is so comfortable!
  • @krisdee123 I just got the VS lounge bra last week and I'm in love! It's so comfy and still had great support.
  • Coming up on 21 weeks pregnant and I've hated bras since I got boobs. Before pregnancy I am 5'4" and was about 140 lbs and a 30 F before pregnancy. Since I've been pregnant, I ordered a bathing suit top online that was a 32 DDDDDD/I (yepppp) and fits amazing. I really need to try and see if the bathing suit company makes bras because right now I have a 36 DD bra from pea in the pod and it is awful. But I also don't want to spend a lot of money on bras knowing things could change more.

I am also larger chested and now at a 40E. I got plus size maternity/nursing bras at motherhood that are super comfortable. They don't have underwrite and fit like a sports bra.
  • So far I can not find any bra that fits so i stay Indoors now. I need to find 38M
  • I am having this problem too! Even with a band extender my 38D (now 38DD) are so uncomfortable. It's not an issue of the band size, it's the way my boobs lay on my stomach and the underwire digs in. But a flimsy wireless nursing bra does nothing for me. Helllllllp!!!

  • Layne Bryant has awesome bras!!
Most of the time they have sales :)
  • Bare nessecities has bigger sizes and specialty brands. Hot milk makes supportive and pretty nursing bras, but they are pricy and may not fit if you nurse (I went up a cup size while nursing). I liked that they had up to an H cup size even in smaller band sizes.
  • I saw some up at Walmart they had a pretty good size range
  • 38DDD is the same as a 38E (I'm there too). Also, I find that Victoria's secret measures large. If I'm a DDD at VS, I'm a DD anywhere else. I'd try some department stores, such as Dillard's, JC Penney's, etc for a large selection in bigger sizes. Also, you might try Lane Bryant or any other plus size store because they'll have a variety of styles in larger sizes. Good luck!
  • I order bras from Fig Leaves online. It's a company in the UK. Be sure to check the size chart as UK sizes are different then US. I wear a 32 I which is impossible to find for maternity bras. They have a great return policy too if it doesn't fit.
  • I still can't find any bras, am up to a NN cup at 28 weeks so far : (
  • Go to a specialty store as pps suggested and get measured, then try on a bunch of different brands and styles to find the perfect fit.

Next step is very important. Leave the store...and buy it online. You know it'll fit because you tried on that exact brand and fit.

Also, Macy's has a huge selection of bras, and with sales their prices are pretty damn good.
