Insurance issues

I'm not sure if anyone here would be able to give me some thoughts but I'll give it a shot.

My insurance through work does not cover maternity, but I am pretty sure I make too much to recieve medical assistance. I get married January 17th and will be added to my husband's insurance at that point and they will cover my care.

However, I am currently 6 weeks based LMP and am anxious to get in to a doctor to check that everything is ok and begin appropriate prenatal care.  Does anyone know of any health centers or other avenues I can go through in order to see someone. I would prefer someone connected to Lankenau Hospital.

Re: Insurance issues

  • I would call a doctor and ask the billing person directly. they definitely know the ins and outs. start taking a prenatal right away. you can buy them at target/walmart they are just as good as prescribed ones.

  • I wish I could provide some assistance, but I am clueless on this one.

  • Many hospitals have womens health clinics that are associated with the hospital that offer prenatal care to those with little or no insurance. You could try calling around, or there is always planned parenthood.
  • I don't know if you are still interested but I just contacted CHIP and they have something that cover the mother during her pregnancy and then both the mother and the baby for the next year. You should contact them.
