Hi, I am new here and I did my second iui in August for male factor.
My cycle was normal and I can ovulate on my own. But my re still put me on 50mg clomid last cycle and 100mg clomid this cycle. Both cycles I had only one big follicle.
Anyone can tell me why I have only one egg on clomid? Aren't I supposed to have more as I can ovulate normally without clomid? What's wrong with me?
Thanks! Hope everyone can see the BFP this month!
Re: Anybody here took 100mg clomid but only have one egg?
Did they do a cycle without any drugs and you were producing mature follicles? If you weren't, getting 1 mature one could be fine. At the end of the day, you only need one good one. It also makes the trigger shot less crampy, and you don't have to worry about multiples.
If this cycle doesn't work (fingers crossed it does!), I would ask your doc if it makes sense to stay on Clomid.
Good luck!
Anway, I'm sorry you are going through this and really hope your one works this cycle! Know that you definitely are not alone in this! I wondered myself if Femera would have worked better for me, but I was willing to give injectables a try since the chances are improved much more.
He just told me he was expecting me to have 3 or 4 mature follicles while I was on 100 mg clomid since I ovulate on my own and my hormones are normal. He also told me he had to think the egg I had that round is likely the highest quality I've had. Based on my progress this cycle, I'm thinking I will meet with him by Tuesday at the latest and will let you know if I find anything out in more detail.
@riveridgional if you don't mind me asking, does your insurance cover injectibles? If not, how much does it cost? My insurance does not cover any injectibles so I'm worried about the cost.
I think what my RE should worry more about is making sure the trigger shot worked and that I ovulated close to IUI. I'm worried that I didn't ovulate until 2 days after the IUI.
If you google Freedom Pharmacy, you can see their prices online. Though, if you have any sort of insurance coverage for the medications, I think they will charge you more.
Good luck to you and all those follies!!

It's true it really only takes one. I had my IUI a little over 3 weeks ago with only 1 definitely mature follie (2 were at 15 the day before, not clear they would have made it). I was on Femara and Follistim, and had less mature follies on that combo than on Femara alone a few months prior. And that's when I got my BFP
