I locked my son in the car today. In a kroger parking lot. In 97*F weather. Thirty miles from home. My keys were sitting in the front seat, and my phone was in his car seat. I activated the remote start to get some air flowing while putting the car seat in. Shut the back door to get in the front - it was locked! All four doors and the hatch. Look in the window and LO is contentedly looking around. Remote start turns itself off after a certain amount of time, but for the moment he had a/c. A gentleman walked by and I --probably too forcefully --asked if he had a phone. He gave me a "yeah, so" look and I quickly asked if I could use it to call my husband since I had locked our child in the car. He dialed the number and got Kyle on the phone. I don't think he believed my story until he heard me ask Kyle if he had the spare key on him. THANKFULLY, he did have the key and was only 10 minutes away. I got a lot of funny looks as I kept my face pressed to the window the whole time I waited. LO was crying by the time Kyle for there with the key. Him crying is when I got upset because I figured he was getting hot and at 4 wks old he has always had someone comfort him when he gets upset. If it had to happen, it definitely could have been worse (husband not having key or remote start not being on).
