Pressure/Pain in Left lower back/hip/abdomen

I recently started experiencing intense pressure pains in my lower back and hip that radiates around to my lower abdomen on the left side.  If I push/put pressure on my back, it seems to help alleviate it.  I'm 19 weeks today and it started about 2 weeks ago.  Sometimes it only lasts for 2-3 minutes, but last night it woke me up out of my sleep and no matter what position I laid in, sat in or stood - it seemed to not go away for at least an hour!  Sitting up right seemed to help some.  Could this be Sciatic and it's just strong pain which causes it to radiate around to my abdomen?  I also have not been as "regular" as I would like to be.  I called my doctor and was checked out this morning - she said baby is fine and cervix is fine....seems to think it could be regularity and sciatic.  Just looking for some answers in what is causing this - anyone else experiencing the same thing??

  • I had sciatica prior to becoming pregnant. I can't tell you for sure what your pain is, but the radiating part makes me think of my own sciatica. My only happens on the right side starts at my lower back and radiates down all through my leg. I see a chiropracter and have been since before being pregnant and it really really helps me. Maybe try to check out a chiropracter and see if that brings you and relief.

  • I would agree with the sciatica pain. I have a herniated/bulging disc that I thought was causing more pain. Turns out I went to the ER and it was the combination of an annoying UTI that made it worse, lasting for like you said 2-3 mins and waking me up out of my sleep! I'd say a chiropractor too and checking with your OB for any small infections! UTI was the last thing I would've thought of! Good luck :)@happymrs17
