My daughter is 2 months now. She seems to be always hungry. She usually eats 5 ounces every 3 hrs. But now shes been doing an extra ounce or 2 inbetween. Is it safe to add rice in her bottles now?.
Rice in the bottle is not s good idea. Have you tried distraction? She may just be bored. Try slowing down her feedings as well, sometimes eating too fast makes babe think he's still hungry. Is this just all of a sudddn? Could be a growth spurt that she needs the extra milk and then it will settle down again.
Does she take a paci? I thought my baby girl was hungry a lot more too but the paci would actually sooth her so i think she was just comforted by sucking.
I would talk to her pediatrician before going ahead with the rice cereal. They would be able to give advice more specific to your child and your situation.
Definitely talk to your doc first! I'm going to be controversial though and say it could help fill out the milk and her tummy a little better. And even more controversial and say it won't upset her digestive track - scandalous!!!! I say that because A friends Bub had such bad reflux that docs had mum feeding him solids at 3 months after every feed to keep the milk down.

^PP - my dr told me early/improper introduction of rice cereal actually does upset the digestive tract - often causing constipation (had this happen personally with my DS)
Why not just offer more at each feeding? How many total ounces per day?
We follow the guideline of 32oz max of formula per day. My DS was drinking 4 8oz bottles a day by 2.5 months and still starving when we added cereal with the doctors ok. DD is on track for something similar. But we were told never add cereal to bottle its a choking hazard.
Not sure if you are using formula or not but if you are - have you tried Enfamil AR? It has added rice starch so it's much thicker than regular formula and it's safer than putting rice in the bottle.
We add oatmeal to DS's bottle as instructed by our pedi for his reflux. I wouldn't recommend it if you don't have to. He spends most of his day gassy and trying to poop, and I'm pretty sure that's why. And he still wants to eat every 2-3 hours. Everytime I try to take it away he spits up most of his bottle though, so for us right now it's the lesser of two evils.
