QuestIon for fellow LEEP Mamas

I had Olivia on 8/16, but it was a 14.5 hour labor, due to scar tissue preventing me from dialating, despite water breaking and contracting every minute on my own, I didn't make progress for 12 hours! (After being half a cm dialated for a month at the least).

Once baby broke through the scar tissue, I went from a 1-10 in an hour and a half!

Just wondering what your labor was like and if anyone else had issues with dialating after a LEEP?

Re: QuestIon for fellow LEEP Mamas

  • I've never had a LEEP but have a ton of scar tissue on my cervix due to a torn cerclage. I was able to vaginally deliver this baby but it took longer then my previous labours to dilate. Fortunately my cervix did not have any tearing during l&d.

  • I had a LEEP done about 10 years ago. I never started to dilate on my own and was really slow to start dilating with meds. The docs thought they might have to do the balloon to break through the scar tissue but eventually I dilated to a 10. My LO never dropped though so after changing my position several times and pushing to try to move her down further I ended up with an emergency c-section because her heart rate was too high and she couldn't handle any longer.

I didn't tear either, but they did talk about ripping through the scar tissue but would only do it after I had an epidural ..I got one and they came in to break it up and I was 5cm lol
  • I had a LEEP last year in February and I was so scared of not dilating because of the scar tissue since I was already slow dilating with DS pre-LEEP; however by the time I got to the hospital I was already at a 7. I didn't have any issues getting to 10 and it happened quickly! Thank God because my epi didn't work and the thought of them breaking up scar tissue without it gives me the jeebies!
  • I had a LEEP procedure done 4 years ago and I was terrified that scar tissue would prevent me from dilating, especially when I went to my 40 week checkup and my doctor told me that I wasn't dilated at all. I ended up having to be induced because LO was extremely stubborn (he gets that from his dad) and didn't want to come on his own. Luckily, I had no issues once the pitocin got started. I dilated to a 10 in 6 hours and had an easy delivery (minus the 3rd degree tear).
