Breathable Bumpers

Right now, DD is sleeping in a bassinet in our room.  The bassinet is borrowed from our neighbor, and it's built just like a tiny crib with slats on the sides.  Now that DD has gotten bigger and has more control over her body, she can reach the slates.  I've noticed several times that she'll have a hand or foot sticking out of the slates on the side of the bassinet.  The slates are wide enough that she hasn't gotten "stuck" that I can tell.  Should I be concerned about this? I'm not really ready to move her to the crib just yet.  Should I invest in breathable bumpers?  Or maybe we need to temporarily move her full size crib into our room?  Or maybe I'm worrying over nothing....that's completely possible too!

Re: Breathable Bumpers

  • In my DDs first year she got her leg stuck in her crib only two times. It was no big deal, just startled her. After a year you really don't have to worry anymore because they're so much better at moving around. I really think bumpers aren't worth the risk (or money).

  • Agreed with PP, even breathable bumpers are a no for me.
  • Went into DDs room one night to find this... No big deal, really. I'd rather risk this than the bumpers. Even the breathable ones scare me! It's everyone's personal choice though and I would never tell you how to feel about something like this. Just know that based on my experience with DD, getting an arm or leg through the slats is not a huge deal.
