Skin care

I am 3 wks pp and of course with body changes there are skin changes. ..just wondering what other mommas out there use to get their skin back to feeling like their skin. My face feels so dry, before it was always soft...I know it's hormones adjusting just wondering if there is a regimen anyone uses. ...masks, cleansers anything. I'm using bio oil for the few stretch marks I did get. Mostly it's my face and hands that feel weird.

Re: Skin care

  • What others are using is irrelevant to you. If you want results you need to find out your skin type. I recommend seeing an esthetician for a facial (where they'll tell you your skin type and recommend a regimen) or go to Ulta and have an esthetician there face map you (which is free.) Your skin type is something that never changes (you're born with it) and is determined by pore size, which is why it's best determined by a professional. What you're dealing with are different skin conditions, which is why you feel dry. These are temporary but can make your skin feel differently for awhile.

My esthetician has me on a pretty rigorous daily routine. A great face wash, toner and moisturizer and my skin has never been better! Seriously, it's so important to invest in your skin health. I recommend speaking with a professional as what in using may not be good for you. GL!

  • @hazeldagarr kinda off topic...I've never had a facial. What should I expect with a good one?

This. I only use what my esthetician and dermatologist recommend. It works for me, but may not be right for you .

First she will analyze your skin and talk to you about your goals and what she is seeing. After you both decide what facial is best for you, she will cleanse your skin, and after that it really depends on what type of facial you do. Typically you'll get exfoliated and some kind of treatment, a facial massage that includes the neck and shoulders, extractions (the best part obviously ;) ) and moisturized. I always wrote out a regimen with prices listed for my clients to keep and then kept a record for myself in case they lost it and needed it again.
  • Hmmm a facial is sounding pretty nice...though at this point I could use a whole spa day lol!
  • Glymed and Dermalogica. Life savers.
