September baby shower in Chicago

My husbands cousin is expecting and we are going to her shower in Chicago. It's in 3 weeks. I have a bunch of summer maternity wear and a few fall pieces that are casual. Just wondering if I can get away with a nice maxi or if I should go ahead and get a nicer fall outfit ? Temps should be low 70s.

Maybe a cardigan or denim jacket with the maxi dress just in case. It can get pretty cool by the lake. Good news is you're probably running hot due to the baby so any cooler breeze will feel great!

Agreed. It's hot here today. 80 at 8 am. Urgh. Should cool down in the next couple weeks.

Pretty good chance that it will still be pretty warm in a few weeks. September weather is always kind of a wildcard.

Chicago lady here, pack both! the weather is so iffy, like last week it was chilly and I had to wear a hoodie! The last three days though have been so hot I've barely left the house!

Chi town girl here, I agree that a maxi sounds perfect. If it's hot, you'll be comfortable, and if it's cool that day, you can easily throw a cardigan or denim jacket over it and be warm and look cute and put together! Win-win!
