Work question.

So I decided a while ago that I will not go back to work. I have not told my employer though. See, I want the benefits till maternity leave is over. If I resigned now, I wouldn't get them right? And when would be the time to resign? And I do not feel guilty because I've paid into disability for many years and the company I work for is one of the 2 massive dialysis companies who could care less about any employee quitting.

  • I would submit your resignation in the same time frame as if you weren't on leave. So 2-3 weeks before your return date.

  • Be sure you know the terms of your leave as well. At a company I worked at before my current job, you had to return and work 12 weeks (what they gave you) or you had to pay it back. Obviously I don't know if that would stand true for the company your work for, but just make sure you know what the terms are.

  • Thanks for the advice guys. I'm going to send in my 3 week notice. I definitely don't want to burn bridges because it is a nice job that I had but with 16 hour days I just can't leave a newborn. =(
    Maybe when she's a bit older, I can go back.
