Help I'm scared!

According to my records I'm exactly 8 weeks today. I feel very pregnant already. I went in for my 1st Transvaginal ultrasound today and all we could see is the sac and no baby. No heartbeat. What does this mean? I had some blood work done and am scheduled for another ultrasound in a week. I was 9 weeks with my 1st baby when I saw her clearly. Has anyone else had something similar happen? I'm feeling so sad.

Re: Help I'm scared!

  • I am in a similar situation! HCG levels are normal, next ultrasound is tomorrow. This week has been torture! Hang in there! My OB refused to speculate because it's too early and she sees it goes both ways.

  • Ohhh Ally I had the exact same thing happen today! I started a thread too. I'm 8 weeks today and no heartbeat. My dr said it may be too early and ordered an hcg today and repeat hcg Friday. But with Monday being a holiday I won't know until Tuesday! I'm so scared! You are not alone! Hugs!

  • Thanks for the support ladies ♡ this is my 1st time posting as well. I get my blood test results tomorrow as to whether or not my levels are normal. But waiting a week is going to be torture. I've been trying for this baby for 2 years and I will be devastated if I can't have it. Fingers crosses and prayers tonight for everyone ♡♡♡♡
  • My OB also wouldn't speculate as it goes either way. At the end she also was talking about finding out the gender and gave me other mixed signals :/
  • Perhaps you aren't as far as you calculated? I thought I was 8 wks but my first ultrasound showed growth of only 5 wks 3 days so couldn't see much and no heart beat. Folks in other threads have reassured me that calc can be waaay off and ultrasounds can be off my a wk+ in early pregnancy. Thinking happy thoughts for you and sending lots of good energy!
  • My thoughts are with you, when I mc in may I was devestated that all they could see was a sac, but I would stay positive because my sac was irregular in shape and not looking in a good way for a pregnancy to continue. I'm sure if your sac was a nice healthy shape that means that it's an ideal home for your lil bean to be growing. Thinking positive is also good, try not to stress too much, I'm sure your dates are just a little off ;)
  • Thanks ladies for the love ♡ I'm pretty positive of my of my due date. My calculations are accurate. I track everything. My sac looked very normal just no baby. Fingers crossed my blood work comes back ok today!
  • So sorry. Just had this happen to Me with what should have been my march 5th baby. Mine unfortunately ended in a MC.
I was sure on my dates too. Hormones suck I felt pregnant but development didn't progress past 4 weeks. Beautiful sac with no visible baby or heart beat.
Good news is I'm pregnant again. The odds of getting pregnant right after are higher.
No matter what happens I'm here if you need to talk!
  • best of luck @allytaggs76! i'm sure you'll see that little baby! please be sure to update us!

  • Sooooooo I went in for my ultrasound today and they concluded that they are pretty sure I have a blighted ovum :( I go back in 2 weeks for another u/s. I'm so upset. There is still a very slim chance I concieved on a later date and I'm too early to see the baby, but there's no way I told the midwife that we concieved on August 2nd and I had a positive pregnancy test on August 8th. Soooooooh yeah. No baby. Thanks for all the support ladies. ♡
  • I'm really sorry for you. Two weeks is along time to wait for another u/s. I hope you are off with your dates. Take care of yourself.

  • I'm so, so sorry.
  • Thanks mamas. It's kind of hitting me harder this morning than yesterday. I've been crying on and off. Life isn't fair :(
  • Does anyone have any info as to what the MC will be like? I feel I should let it happen naturally but I don't know all the facts yet as I still have to wait two weeks. Any info or suggestions are welcomed...
  • The Miscarriage/Pregnancy Loss Board is a really great resource for information about the experience/perspectives on different options.  I've lurked quite a bit over there and it's a very supportive group.  Here's a link, if you're interested: https://forums.thebump.com/categories/miscarriagepregnancy-loss

Again, I'm so sorry you're going through this.  Try to take good care of yourself.
  • Thank you so much ♡
  • My first MC was a mmc and I chose to have a d and c after we had a confirmed no heartbeat (there was a heartbeat that reduced a week later and then it stopped so I knew it wasn't just early). The d and c really gave me closure and I didn't have to anticipate it happening naturally, when where etc. My second MC happened naturally and spontaneously while I was in body pump so at first I thought maybe spotting from working out, but quickly realized it was heavy and red and crampy. I basically felt like I having a heavy and crampy period. However, if I knew with confirmation that I would miscarry but it wasn't happening spontaneously, I would choose a d and c again.

  • I'm so sorry. I second the miscarriage and loss board. It was helpful for me through both miscarriages.

  • Thank you both. I'm scared of surgery and of pain and Im having a hard time deciding :(
  • It feels so unfair when you have been trying so hard. It really was a grieving process for us - we lost one at 8w4d in the spring in a similar way. I miscarried naturally four days after my ultrasound. I had to spend 3 days home from work for the worst of the bleeding and cramping to pass. Make sure you have support, even if it means reaching out to friends who didn't know you were pregnant.
  • @brimarie83 yes a process definitely. I'm sorry for your loss as well. Im horrified to think I could be 11 weeks when I have the D & C if that's what I decide. And of I go natural I could be even more weeks by the time it happens and I have a 2 yr old daughter and no friends or family near as we just moved a month ago. This is the WORST.
