My husband has been a little bit upset because we went crib hunting and we didnt find one. He wants the crib already, and have himself build it. Do you ladies think its to early to buy one? Or should we just go ahead and get one?
We're planning to put ours on our registry and buy it after the shower with the completion discount. But we also probably won't have the nursery cleared out until close to the shower either. If you've got the space to put it and the funds to buy it now, why not?
I'm setting up my registry in a few weeks and putting the crib on it, then buying it. That way we get that included in the 10% you get back at the end. I want it set up before we get other gifts.
Don't get discouraged, we looked at a couple places a couple times before finding one we liked at a price we liked. After a while, they all started to look alike to us, so I think that's why we finally just picked one, lol!
Ours is already bought (by my mother) but is chilling in my parents' house for MONTHS before we set it up...likely not until like Thanksgiving weekend, so we don't need to have bought it so early, she just was too excited to wait and found a good deal.
We have our crib already but are waiting to paint the room and move out the guest bed to put it in.
Just an FYI for anyone still shopping, last time we bought my son a Graco crib that I loved at Babies R Us. It was $249 there and the same crib was $179 on Amazon and $149 from Walmart online. So glad I checked the other websites, we love his bed!
I ordered mine several weeks ago when pottery barn had their crib sale. It's all set up with everything but bedding. It's been great because we are working on a hand painted tree that goes around it and it really makes it easier to save the complete picture.
It is only too early if you have no where to put it or you think it is too early. Like I've said before, we had the nursery finished and filled before we even started trying for DS 1, and that includes the crib. Yes, it ended up serving as a storage space for a while, but it made me happy to have it there.
What brand and model crib would you all recommend buying? My sister bought the 4-in-1 convertible three years ago and told me it makes no sense. Once baby became older she bought bunk beds for the kids and never used the stages of the convertible bed.
I'm getting a bedside bassinet for easy access feelings. That will only take me to five months. Not sure what crib I should get.
Ds came early so we didn't have a crib before he was born and didn't set it up in the nursery (which also wasn't finished when he was born!) until he moved into the nursery at 4 months. This baby will get his crib and ds will transition to a big boy bed when baby is about 4 months also.
If you have the space and money now then I don't think it is too early. Starting to look now gives you the time to be patient and wait til you find a crib you love at a price you love.
@Aminafleming we didn't opt for the 4in1 only because we don't have the space for a full sized bed and all the ones we liked converted to full sized beds. The crib we chose does convert to a toddler bed though.
Lurking from Feb, but when we ordered our crib, it was on backorder for at least 6 months in the color we wanted. So we waited and it came about a week before LO arrived. So in my opinion, never too early! haha
Ours has been up for over a month. We came across a great deal and couldn't pass it up! Everyone is different though. I also want to be more prepared this time around. Wasn't so much last time and it was a little more to worry about than I would have liked.
Ours took 8 weeks to come in. We wanted to order it early in case it was back ordered. We couldn't find one either because I hate the convertible ones. Traditional ones are hard to find. Eventually found one at a boutique baby store and for only $300. That's cheap compared to convertible beds. But really we are hoping to start with baby number two in time for baby number one to be moving to a toddler bed.
MIL gifted us with a crib it was back ordered and was supposed to take 8 weeks....well it came 5 weeks early. Now it's sitting in my family room waiting for us to paint the baby's room. I think it's great your hubby wants everything set up! Try looking again you'll find one.
I'm not sure what type of style you are looking for but check out albeebaby. They have great sales around Black Friday. I bought you crib they them and got the mattress free. I had my first in February and there was plenty of time to setup and stuff.

Anyways... I obviously don't think it's too early
