I posted about a month ago that I was diagnosed with marginal placenta previa at 17 weeks. I went back today at 21 weeks to check and see if it's moved up at all, which it hasn't. So that sucks. On top of that, she told me that my amniotic fluid is high, in the 97th percentile! 4 weeks ago I didn't have this problem. Some possible causes are GD (haven't been tested yet), kidney or swallowing problems with the baby, and chromosomal abnormalities (blood tests came back with very low risks). Apparently 50-60% of the time the cause excess fluid is unexplained. The nurse practioner I spoke with didn't mention having anything checked at this time, but wants me back in 3 weeks to check on it. Of course, no sex, exercise, etc. She did say that diet and eating a lot of sugar may have something to do with it. I'm hoping that's it... Last night I had a huge piece of cake after dinner, a cookie with breakfast today, and I've definitely been going overboard on the sweets overall. Anyway, I'm just wondering if anyone else has experienced high fluid volume, and if so what happened? I'm frustrated because with my first pregnancy I had zero issues, and now I have two, both of which happen in only 1% of pregnancies.
Re: Excess Fluid
I might ask your provider given the high fluid levels if you can take the GD test early to see if that is the cause. If you do have GD, the sooner you know, the more time you have to potentially lower the fluid levels.
