Placenta previa

Does anyone have any experience with this?

Re: Placenta previa

  • Did you try searching? There are lots of ladies experiencing this on this board

  • Me! I was told 4 weeks ago I have marginal placenta previa. Had an appointment this morning to check on it and it hasn't moved at all....
  • I found out I have full previa 4 wks ago..hoping it moves..just playing the waiting game.
  • At my 18 week scan i was told i had complete placenta previa. At my 20 week anatomy scan the placenta was completely out of the way!!! I hope the same for you.
  • I found out I have partial placenta previa at my 19/20 week appointment. Don't have another ultrasound for 3 weeks. Super nervous--was told no strenuous activities, etc. Hoping it will correct itself but for some reason I thought researching the Internet was a great idea and only found horror stories. I hate waiting!!
  • I had complete previa with my first born. I was diagnosed at 13 weeks and it never moved, although the chances of it moving are high. I just got lucky! Not.. it is hard to research it on Google because it us really scary, but knowing the risks are super important as well. I was lucky and didn't have any bleeds at all and made it to 37 weeks before my c-section. There are restrictions, so I would just ask your doctor as much as possible to be safe. I hope it clears for you though!
  • I was told that I have low placenta at my 19 week check up, just this past Monday.  Not completely covering, but within 2 cm's.  I have another ultra sound scheduled at my 28 week appointment to see if it has moved.  The nurse said that about 90% of the time as my uterus is expanding it will put distance between the placenta, so I shouldn't worry.  She told me that if it were true placenta previa that I would need a C-section, because it usually does not make much movement if any at all.
  • @teachmegs817 I just had my u/s yesterday and was told something similar. The tech said not to worry at this point in the pregnancy.

  • Yes, i was told not to worry until a few months when wendo another scan to check it out. I havent been bleeding and doc just told us no sex =/ so well see what happens. Internet freaked me out with talk of bed rest! But it doesnt seem like anyone really does that anymore.. ill just be taking it easy when i can and crossing my fingers
  • No sex has been the hardest part for me.lol
  • I just found out I have this today too :( sonographer wouldn't tell me much or give me advice on what I should do differently...I do lots of exercise still and was feeling great so going to have to call midwife to check what I can and can't do as don't want to put me or baby in danger...are you all exercising??
  • My doctor called me today to let me know that my placenta is low. He told me to just make sure I'm not lifting anything heavy and no sex
:(. He said there is plenty of time for it to get into a better position and he said it wasn't quite placenta previa, but its still got me a little worried. My hubs is a nurse and when I told him he seemed a bit worried, which makes me a little worried. I'm hoping this all goes well, I really don't want to have to do a c-section, but it may be unavoidable.

  • I had spotting 2 weeks ago at 17 weeks and had an unplanned ultrasound. They told me I have a low lying placenta, but it's right at 2cms. I'm having another u/s in two weeks and will continue to have reg ones to check if it moves. My Dr. told me the same--no sex, no heavy lifting, no strenuous activity. Hoping it moves, doctor seemed confident it would.

  • Okay over a week ago I was told I have this by a nurse that called to give me us results. She said nothing about restrictions or anything but said my placenta is covering my cervix... So full placenta previa. I don't know why she wouldn't mention no sex or no lifting or anything like that... I have had no bleeding or spotting at all during my pregnancy but I have had period like cramps... I wonder if it's causes by having a low lying placenta. I have read a bit in Google, but really that's just horror stories so nothing has really given me any info... Along with this I also have SUA so I feel like it's just a double whammy!! Wish I had a more informative dr!
  • @mwalles I would call my doctor and ask questions if I were you. Ask about specific restrictions and where you can find more info about it. You need to be as informed as possible, especially with full prévia as that can have some delivery complications too.
