Trying to Get Pregnant

TTC with Endometriosis

I am looking for success stories, advice, suggestions, recommendations, etc. that will help my husband and I conceive. This last month was the first that we actually timed things and really tried. A little background... I was diagnosed with endo at 15, have had 2 laps (at ages 16 and 19) and was also on continuous BC for 10 years - including Lupron and Depo Lupron. I stopped taking BC in April and my cycle has been surprisingly regular but still very heavy and very painful. I also have a feeling that I am only ovulating on my right side, I never have any signs on my left. Being so young when I was diagnosed and had the laps I 1. wasn't thinking about family planning and 2. had no idea what questions I should be asking. April was also my first cycle in 10 years so I'm figuring this whole menstrual thing out all over again. Again, any advice, success stories, etc would be appreciated! Thanks!!

Re: TTC with Endometriosis

  • Welcome and good luck. I recommend reading the ultimate guide post pinned at the top. There is a lot of great info in there to start with.

    Welcome,

I'm sorry to hear you have endo, and you're experiencing painful periods. I have endo also, as do a few other ladies on the board.

For advice concieving, I second PP and recommend reading the Ultimate TTGP guide pinned at the top of the board. Grab a copy of TCOYF as well. Tracking your cycles with temping, monitoring cervical changes and fluid, and using OPKs will let you know what is happening in your body and when to 1) confirm whether you are ovulating and 2) ensure you're timing sex in your FW. With endo, the goal of course is to conceive as quickly as possible to limit time off BC, so those tools will greatly help.

Your doctor may have a different recommendation based on your specific history, but mine gave me 6 months to try and concieve on my own. If there's no success in that time, I will then go for further testing to ensure my tubes are open, discuss a lap, etc. So, my best advice at this point is to do everything you can to confirm ovulation and optimize timing.

Regarding your suspicion you only ovulate on one side, some women do experience mittleschmerz (ovulation pain), yet many, many do not. Pain in the area of your ovaries could be anything--gas, etc. So, I know it's hard not to read into every sign or twinge, but I wouldn't assume you aren't ovulating on both sides, unless an ultrasound shows evidence to the contrary.

For success stories, try checking with the first trimester/expecting boards as there may be pregnant ladies with endo there.

    Best of luck!

Or even try the "pregnant after IF" board :)

  • Hi,

Welcome to the board. I am also TTCing with Endo after 2 laps. Where they for ovarian cysts? Do you know if your tubes are clear?

I am currently my way for a check up with my specialist, I will post some more advice this afternoon/evening based on my experiences so far after 3 cycles of TTCing.

    Good luck.

  • I successfully got pregnant with stage 4 endo.  I was told I would never conceive, had massive scarring and tubes covered in scar tissue.  Similar story to yours, laps, lupron etc.  I was diagnosed 7 years ago.  It took us about 13 months of trying to get pregnant.  I won't go in to great detail here to avoid boring you but feel free to PM me if you have questions.  Here is a snap shot of what I did.

    * Fertility acupuncture 2x per month.
    * Nattokinase and Serrapeptase (enzyme therapy to help soften and break down scar tissue) daily
    * High doses of fish oil (3x suggested dose) daily
    * Eliminated most processed foods from diet.  Also, removed non-organic dairy.

Good luck, it can be done!!

  • Thank you ladies for the feedback! I really appreciate it :) Had an appointment with my OB today and said that considering my circumstances she wants us to try on our own for another 5 months (6 total) and if no positive we will pursue other options. So here's to hoping, waiting and wishing. Good luck to all of you!!
  • Hi. I realise you made this comment a few years ago, however I was wondering if you continued to take the nattokinase and serrapeptase throughout your pregnancy?
