3rd Trimester

Need some advice!

Okay, this is going to be a long one, so apologies in advance!
My daughter is 19 months, and my pregnancy with her was fairly simple. I did end up having to be induced for no amniotic fluid at 38 weeks. I labored with medicine for 17 hours and never had ANY cervical change. I was closed the whole time. We ended up having to do an emergency c-section because her heart rate dropped.

Now...I am 33 weeks pregnant with my second daughter, and this pregnancy has been anything but easy. I have had contractions since 25ish weeks, one shot of terbutaline around that time, and have been slowly losing fluid. Most recently, I went up to L&D for horrid contractions, and was sent home due to no cervical change (surprise, surprise). During this stay at L&D, I noticed my baby's HR baseline dripped from 155 about 1.5 weeks ago to 120, and that was WHEN they could determine a baseline. Her HR was so sporadic that they couldn't always figure a baseline...

I have voiced my concerns with my current pregnancy to my OB, and he seems to not care. Tells me everything is fine. There is nothing he can do. The whole 9 yards. Now that my baby's HR is dropping, I am starting to worry more about all of this, and the possibility of her going into distress and me not going into L&D for contractions because I just know they will send me home since I won't have any cervical change.

Any advice or help here or options, what to do, what to ask my OB on Wednesday, my next appointment, etc? I feel like he isn't going to listen one way or another, but I need some help!

Re: Need some advice!

  • Have you explained your situation you had with your first child when labouring? That could be a start. They should be listening to your concerns and not brushing them aside so to say.
You know your body better than anyone.
If your OB continues to NOT listen to you then you really need to be getting a second opinion, & maybe consider changing OB's. I know that's not as easy considering your nearing the end but I would be livid if my doctor was not listening to me.

This. I would be so uneasy that I would have probably found a different doc who would listen to me, .
  • Definitely would have found a few doctor by now if my current one was dismissing my valid concerns.
  • Is there another doctor in the office you could see? It can be tricky changing doctors this late, due to insurance coverage etc. if you can't see someone else, can you ask him why he is not concerned? I would continue to go get seen at the hospital when you have any issues tho.
