Logic behind full bladder for IUI?

Does anyone know the logic behind why your RE wants you to have a full bladder for the IUI? My mom was asking me this morning and I really have no clue, I just do what I'm told.

Married: 8/29/2009
TTC- since we got married (off and on)
TTC with focus: Since July 2015
Currently had 2 rounds of failed IUIs, failed TI monitored cycle
December 2015: Starting 1st IVF cycle
January 2016: Retrieval
March 2016: Pending Transfer (I have 3 PGS tested embryos waiting for a womb)
April 2016: BFP, the old fashioned way.

    They say it makes it easier for the catheter to go in.

    Hmm...I was never told to have a full bladder, and actually went to the washroom before (because who wants to be on the verge of peeing when someone inserts a speculum and a catheter up there). I didn't feel a thing with the catheter being placed.

    It helps give them better visualization with the ultrasound so they can use the catheter better. Also, it can help tilt the uterus into a better position.
    I don't remember having a full bladder for my iuis last year but for my ivf transfers, they had me literally bursting throughout the whole process. I then had to stay on the table for 15 minutes afterwards before I was allowed to relieve myself.
    It's really helpful to have someone by your side to keep your mind off of things.
    ***Trying to conceive since 9/12- m/c 2/13 from natural conception.

    My dr also never said anything about a full bladder for either of my 2 iui's and at my last one when they brought me back to the room I actually asked if I could use the bathroom and they said yes.  They had no issues with the catheter and I felt nothing

    Its awful.  My RE is very adamant about it.  I had to sit for 15 mins also, not fun.  I figured it might be for better visualization so they can use catheter.  Guess it just helps them...but no fun for us.

    My RE doesn't do a full bladder for IUI but does for the Sonohysterogram, the water sono and for IVF transfer.
    It's horrible, I really almost pee'd on my RE last time. I as funny after the fact, but not during- I was panicked that I wasn't going to be able to control myself. Lol
    Me 30 || DH 36
    Unexplained Infertility- Postive for MTHFR Gene Mutation

    Natural cycles with 1 miscarriage
    -3 IUI's w/ Clomid= BFN 
    -IVF #1-Follistim and Menopur= BFN
    ***11 Eggs, 10 mature, 8 fertilized, transferred 1 (day 5) 2 made it to freeze
    -FET #1- Transferred 2, day 5 embryos =BFN
    -IVF #2- Follistim and Menopur = BFN
    ***11 retrieved, 8 mature, 6 fertilized, transferred 2 (day 3), 4 made it to freeze (Follistim and Menopur) = BFN
    -FET #2- Transferred 2, day 3 embryos = BFN
    **Changed doctor**
    -IUI #4- natural cycle = BFN
    -IUI #5- Follistim (5 eggs) BFP- lead to Miscarriage  :'(
    -Laproscopic Surgery for Endometriosis, Polyp removal and Cyst removal. 
    -IVF #3- Menopur, Follistim, Lupron, Ganirellex- BFP lead to Eptopic Pregnancy  :'(
    ***11 Eggs retrieved, 10 Mature, 8 fertilized, transferred 3 embryos (day 3), 0 made it to freeze
    -Lapropscopic surgery- Removal of Fallopian Tube
    -IVF #4- Estrogen Priming with Vivelle dot, Menopur, Follistim, Ganirellex- BFP  :)
    ***15 Eggs retreived, 11 mature, 11 fertilized, 2 embryos transferred (day 3), 2 made it to freeze
    Found out I was positive for MTHFR Gene Mutation during TWW of IVF #4

    My RE doesn't tell his patients to have a full bladder. When I went in for my IUI yesterday they actually asked if I needed to empty my bladder first. It's so weird what some REs prefer and want over others!

    Me: 31

    DH: 29, SA - Great

    Married: June 12,2011

    TTC #1: 1/2014

    Diagnosis: Hypothalamic Amenorrhea

    Treatment: Clomid:  50mg, 100mg, 150mg - not successful and not monitored

                      Menopur 75ml (upped to 112.5ml), Ovidrel, & IUI  IUI #1 8/31/2015

    9/15/2015: BFP HCG - 400, 9/17/2015: HCG - 827, 9/21/2015 - HCG 3,327!
    Heartbeat 10/2/2015: 118bpm
    DS: 5/27/2016

    TTC# 2: 12/2017
    BFP: 4/20/2018
    EDD: 12/29/2018

    My RE also doesn't ask for a full bladder and also asked if I had to use restroom before we started.
    When I did IUI last week, my cervix was tilted and it took a little time to get everything situated before procedure was done. If I don't get my BFP this month, I'm going to ask about the full bladder for the next IUI.

    My doctor recommended a full bladder for both my HSG test and my IUI . It was definitely a pain for the IUI because they insisted I remain in the room for 15-20 minutes after the procedure was over . I just about peed on the table !! For the HSG test I was ok because it was over quickly and I was free to get up right away . But yes - supposedly it makes the catheter insertion easier . Who knows how much it really helps ! Next IUI (If I'm not pregnant , fingers crossed I am now) I'm not downing two bottles of water before !

    DH: No issues.
    Me: PCOS, unexplained infertility (whatever that means!!)
    June 2015 Medicated TI cycle: BFN
    July 2015:  Medicated TI cycle: BFN
    August 2015: IUI: BFP. Chemical pregnancy :(
    October 2015: IUI: BFN
    January 2016: Egg retrieval: 10 frozen embryos!
    March 2016: FET Cycle- 2 embryos transferred!: BFP !

    I was only told by my RE to have a full bladder after it was determined that the catheter process wasn't going smoothly.  If your uterus turns sharply in relation to your cervix, having a full bladder can push down the uterus.  It is normally not required, but for the special few, you get to squirm around trying not to pee on your doctor while they do the procedure.
