So we've been reading that semen helps cervical ripening....so last night we tried having sex....for the first time...in like 6 months. It took a while to convince my husband he wasn't going to meet his daughter for the first time with his junk haha but anyway it was hands down the least enjoyable experience ever. Bordering on painful. Now granted it's been 6 months with no activity so I'm sure it's pretty closed up down there and on top of that I'm sure it's getting pretty crowded, what what baby girl pushing down there and all. But has anyone else had painful experiences? I was up all night.freaking out because I'm still sore.

Re: 38 weeks and sex
We have relations once or twice a week at this point, and while it's not the most comfortable experience, I still enjoy myself. However, i know if I went without for 6 months I would struggle with it too! Don't be too hard on yourself. If you want to continue trying, maybe consider using lube to help things along. But don't force yourself to have sex if you and hubby don't really want to.
Best of luck!
The most comfortable positions for me is either doggie with a bunch of pillows under my chest/belly but I find LO moves around more often during it, which can be weird for me. Or reverse cowgirl because the extra weight from my belly makes it easier to just rock back and forth... Trying to describe this the least graphic way possible haha!
My OB said to make sure I orgasm because it helps open everything up and his semen will help ripen everything! The thought of not doing it for about 6 weeks frightens us both cause sex is a pretty big part of our lives as its one of each of our love languages! Trying to do it as much as possible before the little lady gets here.
Good luck!
Am I the only one who is in the mood, literally all the time? My and hubby have sex about 2 times a week, and I am 37 wks, 2 days. If he was home (he's on afternoons, and when it gets home im sleeping), it would be more. He did tell me that he could feel that my cervix was extremely low last time. He was gentle. I find the only position that is comfortable at the moment is on all fours.
I guess I'm lucky because I can still do most positions without being uncomfortable and I haven't experienced any pain so far.
I'll be 38 weeks Friday.
Just this past weekend I tried again (after waiting a week or so) and I started having contractions. I was timing them and ended up being monitored for a little while in L&D, but nothing progressed. We are hoping to try again this weekend just to get him motivated to come out on time or a tad bit early.
