  • Have your doc make a recommendation, consider it and make the decision. You r the one going through this.. U have a choice in the matter.
  • It's birth. No matter what you do at some point there will be some pain. I don't understand why people believe that a c section will be painless and is the way to go? The recovery is longer. Get an epidural. Even with that afterwords there will be some pains and discomforts.
  • Oh my!!! You do realise having a c-section is way worse than a natural birth right?
As PP's have said its major abdominal surgery & the recovery time is a lot worse than recovery from a vaginal birth. Did you not think about all this before you got pregnant? Research is a wonderful thing I'd suggest you do it.
Why do you feel your not capable of a natural birth? A woman's body is made for birthing a child so why would you think because your 19 you can't do it?

IMHO the huge financial difference would be way more painful than a vaginal delivery...  Yikes!

I never heard someone wanting a c-section unfortunately it is sometimes needed for health reasons. Doctors are not going to cut someone open if there are other options. Well let me say respectable doctors will not. Childbirth is painful period face the facts. Get an epidural and give birth the way that is best for your baby. After DD2 was born I only needed tylenol not gonna be that way with a c-section that is for sure. Please go read up on vaginal births vs C-section and inform yourself of the actual facts.
  • I'm sorry, but even I wasn't this clueless at 19. You want major abdominal surgery so you can avoid the pain of childbirth? First off, c-sections are used for emergency situations only. It's not up to your husband to decide. Second, the recovery time for a c-section is normally much longer than a vaginal birth, and you have a very painful scar to deal with. Surgery is not painless. Lastly, have you never heard of an epidural before?

You may be young, but you're still having a baby. I would suggest doing some major research about childbirth.
    ^^^so much this!!

I'm 19 and I'm not that clueless.... A c-section is major surgery and from what I understand is going to cause a hell of a lot more pain afterwards, it also leaves you pretty useless afterwards. You can't lift anything heavier for 8 weeks, no driving, and trust me walking after abdominal surgery is AWFUL! You shouldn't really talk to your doctor anyway because you can't just chose to have one, I think everyone is somewhat afraid of the pain but they have pain management methods you can use, I'm using the epidural and I took a Lamaze class to help with breathing.
Good luck with everything and I hope you really look into your options
  • I'm just telling you right now.... A C Section is much more risky and painful than a vaginal birth. Remember that our bodies were made to give birth.

This!! I'm 19 too and would rather have a vaginal birth than to deal with a recovery from a c-section. Not trying to be rude with calling you clueless, it's just not even a choice you should try to make. A c-section is definitely not an easy way out. No birth is easy, but from what I've been told a c-section is definitely not an easy thing to go through and you shouldn't just choose to have that. You won't be able to lift anything, you can hardly move your arms above your head, and you're going to need help with pretty much everything. If you're really worried about it, just have your doctor drug you up as much as they can.
