I met with my midwife today for the first time for an initial meeting. My husband and I LOVED her! Anyway, I wanted to pass on a few things she told me that may help some ladies here. Specifically, I know someone was already tested positive for GBS... Maybe
@imrachellea ?? I could be way off!
Anyway, she said that eating lots of good yogurts and keifer (spelling??) during pregnancy can help eliminate GBS. She also said that you can be positive at 36 weeks and it can be negative by 39. Oh, limiting sugar intake has also been shown to help.
I was also worried about my high BP in both pregnancies. She explained the midwives view on high blood pressure to me, which I had never heard and can't recreate now, but she said that eating plenty of protein and salt (Yep, salt!) as well as getting plenty of calories to ensure your blood volume is where it should be could help keep SOME blood pressure down around normal. She did clarify that there are other reasons for high blood pressure that couldn't be solved that way. But hopefully that helps some! And eating healthy isn't a bad side effect either!
Okay, stepping off by crunchy mama soapbox for the day.
3 miscarriages - 1 DS (6) - 1 DD (3) - #3 due March 30!
