I stole this idea from a blog post at Alphamom, but I thought it might be fun to start our own list.
What should pregnant women avoid watching, especially as we get closer to labor and delivery?
Classic no-nos include Rosemary's Baby and Alien, of course. Marley & Me is always on my "do not watch" list because, well. So. Many. Tears.
Last night my husband talked me into starting the HBO series The Knick, then he apologized profusely after the opening scene had a very graphic 1900s c-section scene. Adding that to my list.
What about you ladies? Anything we should have fair warning about?
I've always been a HUGE Walking Dead fan but since becoming pregnant I just can't seem to stomach it any more. Between the gore and then thinking about what if that happened to my kids I just can't. Silly? Yep. Irrational? Of course. But that's my story and I'm sticking to it!
DO NOT watch the early seasons of Greys' Anatomy or ANY of Private Practice. one of the characters is a neonatal surgeon, so it's dying pregnant women, sick babies, preemies, dying babies and horrific delivery situations. Just don't.

Oh good point! The last season of Grey's was rough also for that reason.
I made the mistake of watching the movie Prometheus when I was pregnant with my son and the scene where the lead actress had to give herself surgery freaked me out! I actually saw it again yesterday and it had the same affect lol!
I don't recommend watching videos of birth (vaginal or c-section) because you probably won't want to go to the hospital when it's time
I made the mistake of watching the new abc show the whispers.. it's about this alien force that talks to kids only and the parents think it's just an imaginary friend but he's super evil. I'm pretty sure i'm going to be so paranoid if my daughter ever says she has an imaginary friend.

Yep. I made that mistake. I was like "maybe watching some birth videos will calm me down so I know everything that happens down there". nope. It was the biggest hooter ive ever seen, via shakey cam. I swear after that baby came out so did half of craigslist. Id rather not know or see what is happening to me down there during labor.
I was in the last season of Lost during my first trimester. I would watch on my laptop in between classes and I just bawled. On campus in front of people but I couldn't help it lol.
I had to stop watching Wentworth. I would cry hysterically at every woman's story of how they ended up in prison. So many had to do with their kids and my hormonal heart couldn't take it.
If I stay. Far too emotional. I cried the entire movie. @jsliko I agree with the beginning of Jupiter Ascending, it's a tear jerker for sure!! SO and I have recorded episodes of botched and I find the surgery parts far more gruesome than I used too. They were always rough for me but instead of just turning away now I cringe.

Lmao oh I've been rewatching Private Practice for weeks now because I couldn't pick something on Netflix after I finished rewatching Gilmore Girls.
I shouldn't be watching HGTV because it either makes me want to move (we just moved in February to our new house), remodel (can't afford it!), or go to the freaking Caribbean.
I'm currently binge watching Grey's Anatomy reruns on Netflix. Which I should know better than to do because half the episodes made me get irrationally emotional even pre-pregnancy lol.
I've been watching labor and delivery videos like crazy. Rather than freak me out it's helped a lot. If I Stay had me bawling like a moron. Like full on ugly crying, stuffy nose and red faced. And The Vow. And I freakin hate channing tatum. Wtf
Any video shared on Facebook that involves dogs and their rescues. Or if the dog is excited for a military family member that has come home. Or if it is any animal being cute. Pretty much any video involving anything related to animals... Lol.

I saw bawling the other day at a video of a service dog not wanting to leave his dead trainers casket!

The Knick!!! Ahh! Most of the episodes freaked me out since a lot of the show deals with experimental women's medicine. Throw some sick/dying/murdered children in there and I'm scarred for life. Luckily, I watched it between pregnancies but I'm still not quite over it yet.
Call the Midwife is another show to skip during the last weeks of pregnancy. Too many strange, worst case scenario deliveries going on for the sake of drama. Love it any other time, though!
My vote for TV is A Baby Story... I don't think it's on anymore but I'm sure some episodes are on YouTube. All the moms/babies are fine in the end!
Animal rescue stories! The ones that start off with a dog that looks like it could never live or walk again, and ends up with the perfect family and life. Yes I know these stories end well but how it starts, I can never stop the crying if I come across these. Soooo many tears.
Oh gosh, you ladies are so right with the animal stories. I follow a lot of rescue groups on FB and volunteer with our local shelter. I have had to temporarily "unfollow" some people and sites because I cannot even read a headline about animal abuse or neglect. I start bawling immediately.
I know this is irrational but my DH and I started rewatching The Office and I just can't handle it... I cry almost every episode because Jim and Pam aren't together yet and Michael is so infuriating!

SO and I have been slowly watching the Jim Gaffigan Show and typically I find him hilarious. But seeing how he is on the show usually just makes me mad. I get such anxiety with things he does and tell my SO that I'd divorce him if he did those things and we aren't even married yet lol. I'm sure I'll find it more hilarious than annoying once the hormones aren't as bad
Alien VS. Predator. My husband bought it from Hastings this weekend and after we turned it on, realized that the aliens were using humans to reproduce. Yeah, seeing alien babies bursting out of a pregnant woman wasn't nice.
The gore of Game of Thrones was hard for me to handle while pregnant. Also there's the episodes that deal with child/baby sacrifice in one way or another and I just can't.
Thank God it's football season! I'll just stick to that until baby girl gets here or trashy reality tv! I watched The Women on E! This past weekend the the end scene Debra Messing gives birth and it's not even bad! It's supposed to be funny and I literally had to change it because her screaming was giving me anxiety and making my vagina hurt.

HAHAHAHAHA.. My husband and I were just talking about watching Rosemary's Baby AND Alien before I give birth! Sick individuals!
Re: What not to watch while pregnant.
Also I have to keep the tissues handy if I watch the opening sequence of "Up."

Just don't do it the who movie she is pregnant in the worst way ever and at the end the birth is the worst.
