Babies: 9 - 12 Months

Unique Names

For parents with more unique DC names.. what r u thinking for baby #2.. no not pregnant yet but it took us about 5 years to decide on Brynn.  I love her name (not to weird, easy to spell but different)... we have no clue on another girls name....

Any ideas:)

Re: Unique Names

  • Girls I have no trouble finding beautiful unique names that are not WIERD or younique!

Boys is more difficult.  I have a short list of 2 more.  One I don't think will work with our last name (the poor kids name would sound like Rice Cakes).  So hopefully I will have what I've always thought I would: 1 more boy and 1 more girl.

  • I picked Mila's name so DH tells me he gets to pick the next girl's name. He has already chosen Cassidy. I don't love it but another baby is so far in the future that hopefully he'll forget about it.
  • I liked the name Dahlia (doll-ya) every since I was 16 or so.  I have no idea what we will do for baby #2, but I know WAY too many people with my name, so it will be something kinda unique. If we have a boy, we are totally screwed. We couldn't agree the first time!
  • there is a baby name board now...not snarking just saying
  • I don't know if they're unique or not, but we like Finley for ?a girl and Greyson (Grey) for a boy.

I also really like the name Finley.

  • Alaina's not really unique, but we had an awful time thinking of a name that wasn't too popular (i'm a jennifer of the 80s and didn't want to do that to my kid) but wasn't too weird either. i have no idea for the next one.

Naming your girl Findley or Finley in Las Vegas is like me naming my son Harmon in Las Vegas...  It was one name we considered but everyone was asking: "like the car dealership????????????"

  • We chose Garrick for DS and will likely go unique for DC #2 although we're still a long way from that:-) ?We love the name Joss (like Joss Stone) for a girl.

Please share girl names, I think we'll never be 'allowed' to have a girl because we can never agree on a girl name. We've already have a 2nd boy name picked out. My personal favorite is Matilda but DH won't budge, I've offered everything I can think of. Even offered to give up my yearly real Christmas tree. I thought for sure he'd take it, to no avail.

  • baby name wizard (https://www.babynamewizard.com/voyager#prefix=A&ms=false&sw=f&exact=false) is a really good tool for seeing how "unique" a name actually is...one of our criteria for DS was that it couldn't be in the top 100 for popular names, so that narrowed our choices down quite a bit.

I also went to behindthename.com a lot when I was pg to get name ideas - they break them down into ethnicities. hth
