Nursery Photos (Because I Love These Sneak Peeks)

So, I actually was on vacation 6000 miles from home for the past 7 weeks and only got back on Tuesday, which put me at 35w4d (I know, crazy). So, when I got back, I went into crazy nesting mode and pretty much put the entire nursery together in three days. I'm super excited about how it looks, so I figured I'd share, since I'm loving these little sneak peeks into people's houses and styles! Also, fun story, I live in Hawaii. My sister's wedding was in Rhode Island. That crib travelled all the way from Rhode Island to Hawaii with me on the plane - talk about an ordeal to get it there, but I'm so in love with it!

@amp61470, thank you! Haha, that was actually super easy to make! It's just one of those vinyl wall decals from Target and a 1x8 from Home Depot that I had cut at the store and then spray painted white. Finished it off with a couple of picture hanger hooks attached to the back for easy wall mounting. It literally took me all of 20 minutes to put that together and cost me about 25 dollars (everything is more expensive in Hawaii) - you could totally make one!

@lnds30, haha, it's a tiny state, for sure! I grew up in Jamestown/Newport and the wedding was in just over the Newport/Middletown line at the Norman Bird Sanctuary. It was so good to be home. I live in Hawaii since my husband is stationed here, but both of us are missing the East Coast pretty badly and Newport in particular. Where are you located?

My husband is active duty and stationed at Newport! We moved here about a year ago from San Diego! We really love the east coast and are both excited about the fall! It's so beautiful here in the fall! We shot our maternity photos in Jamestown at Beavertail state park! Such a pretty place! How do you like Hawaii?

That's actually really small world - my husband was born just outside of San Diego and I was literally just there to meet him for a port call in July on my way home to RI! Beavertail is absolutely gorgeous - we actually took our engagement photos at Fort Wetherill in Jamestown, but know Beavertail very well. We used to walk out dog there all the time.

Newport is a killer duty station - I'm incredibly jealous! My husband is active duty submariner, so the only ports for sea duty are Groton, CT, Norfolk, VA, Kings Bay, GA, Bangor, WA, San Diego, CA, Pearl Harbor, HI, and Guam (which we narrowly avoided this last time - I'm good without the snake and spider issues they have over there). We would LOVE it if Newport were authorized as a home port for subs! It's nuclear approved already, so it would actually be feasible. Have you enjoyed living in the town? It's such a fun place to be located.

Hawaii has been an awesome experience. It's an entirely different life than back east. I have to admit to missing the East Coast and preferring it, long term, but I'm really glad we had this adventure. Still, my husband and I are both northerners at heart and really miss seasons and cold weather clothing and fall/winter culture and activities. Things can get a little monotonous here, unfortunately. Although it's been super active recently with the crazy hurricane season we've been having!

@jcra7212, wow, it really is a small world! I'm loving all the military connections. I'm giving birth at Tripler and, aside from the mess that parking is, I have had a really positive experience with the doctors so far.

That parking is crazy but I'm loving the stork pass now! I've had some ups and downs but I've got a few doctors now that I love!

I just got my stork pass three days ago and I went to use it for a growth ultrasound and there wasn't a single stork spot to be found! I was so angry and I ended up having to valet or I would have missed my appointment! So infuriating. Hopefully that doesn't happen again.
