A coworker of mine gave me a box of bottles and pacifiers she used for her daughter about a year ago. She said she wasn't sure I'd want them, but figured she'd give me first shot at them. What do you ladies think of reusing these items? I am thinking that I will certainly use the bottles (Dr. Browns), which I originally registered for, but not sure about the nipples and pacifiers. What do you think?
I used pacifiers that I had for DD but they were DS's when he was little and i sanitized them first. I don't think I would use nipples or Pacifiers from someone else's kids. It's a nice offer tho. The bottles themselves I would use.
i wouldn't worry about them from a germ factor...i mean you can wash them. If you ever eat at a restaurant you are eating off dishes others have eaten off of, same sort of concept. However, the nipples can/do break down over time. With dishwasher heat, and just plain wear, they can dry out, or crack or break apart. Even just sitting for a while they can sort of "dry rot". SO if I would inspect them very carefully if you decide to use them. Or, yeah, just buy new nipples and use the bottles themselves
