Plus, why would you want to? Your skin is going to stretch/swell, etc. and then go back down (hopefully) I would steer clear of that for cosmetic reasons too.
I don't know if most artists would do it. Besides the risk of infection, you may also have increased sensitivity due to the extra blood flow, and like PP said, stretching and swelling, especially this late in your pregnancy. Plus, it's not known if the ink can cause any harm to baby. Most tattoo artists won't tattoo breastfeeding moms, either, for the same reasons.
Find someone who can do henna on you instead! Just make sure it's the red/brown natural henna and not black henna, which is not natural and can be harmful to anyone, pregnant or not.
I'm pretty sure that's a no go. I don't think they will even do a piercing when you're pregnant, much less a tattoo. A simple lobe piercing maybe, but not much more than that. It can suck to wait, but you're better off to. Aside from the cosmetic risks of having one done while pregnant, if you know the other risks associated with them, why risk exposing baby to that? I know where I go they definitely would not pierce or tattoo me right now...
I don't know anyone that would tattoo a pregnant woman most shops have formal policies against it. That being said, I'm so excited to add to my ink collection soon after baby is out!
I have heard of a few ladies getting tats while pregnant, but the ink doesn't always hold very well (this was 2 years ago) and they could have gone to some random person instead of an actual licensed shop which isn't always the smartest of ideas even when not pregnant.
But like all of the above have said, with the risk of infection, stretching, swelling, and unknown risk factor of the ink while pregnant, tattoo shops usually don't tattoo pregnant ladies, Soit is best and recommended to wait.
I can't wait until i can fix up my 1 tattoo after this baby and hopefully add more later down the road.
You shouldn't get tattooed or pierced while pregnant. Regardless of any potential health risks (which frankly are negligible if you're going to a reputable artist), your body is much more likely to reject the ink or piercing. It treats it like it's under attack by an infection. I had a labret piercing done before I knew I was pregnant with kiddo1.0 and my body basically said oh hell no.
All the above reasons plus I think the ink can have a bad reaction with your skin, thank you hormones. Plus if you were to get a big one your body can go into a state of shock, which I have to assume wouldn't be good for you or baby. I know some of my bigger pieces, after being worked on for hours, I start to shake uncontrollably, like having the shivers and not being able to warm up. I can say I miss my tattoo guy tons and can't wait to have him start working on me again after babes is here.
I know I should believe there's no such thing as a dumb question, but I am literally giving you the "are you kidding me?" Face right now... You seriously can't wait a few more months for your baby's health?
I have multiple tattoos by multiple tattooist as mine are all different types.
My cousin is a tattoo artist and so is my best friend . Although nothing has been shown on the ink causing issues with baby .
That type of stress could effect you, healing and baby.
Also ink infection , swelling , bleeding issues .
I would wait a few months and even a few after baby is out.
No studies have shown an adverse effect from the tattoo ink, because no studies have been done. It would be quite unethical to suggest pregnant women expose their fetuses' to a possible teratogen in order to determine if there is a poor outcome.
First of all ladies I have no intention of getting one done now. I was just curious as to if there were even places that did. I saw a story on the news a while back about it and thought I'd see if there was anywhere out there that is legit that does it for pregnant women. I plan on getting some done after baby but not now. I already have several and am very aware of how the body can react to the trauma of it so I wouldn't dare risk it while pregnant. Just didn't know if there were places or people who had done it.
No, any legit safe and certified shop makes you sign a waiver before you begin stating you are not pregnant, the ink enters your blood stream and can effect baby. To answer your question more straight forward is yes you can but then the person doing it is either an idiot or a hack, it's extremely unsafe.
