What are you still taking/using to recover?

What medication or treatments people are still using to help in their recovery from labor.

I kind of wonder if I am dragging things out or using them as a crutch.

  • I am 10 days pp from a VBAC. I take Tylenol once a day when I feel my stitches start to bother me, usually mid afternoon or at dinner. I still take one stool softener because I am scared of it hurting. I love my water bottle and witch hazel when I us the bathroom but I have mostly stopped using the numbing spray.

  • I am 16 days PP and I'm not taking anything.
    Baby Birthday Ticker Ticker

  • I weaned down to one 200mg ibuprofen and a stool softener at 8 days pp and stopped all meds at 11 days pp. I used an ice pack the first night hom, the sexy mesh underwear for 3 days home, and then just kept using peri bottle, wet wipes(life saver to keep tp out of stitches!), and numbing spray for 2 wks pp.
  • 18 days pp from a c section and I'm not taking anything. I was down to one pain pill a day by 10 days pp and cut them out completely at 14 days. But I also hate taking medications, even OTC pain meds, if I can help it.
  • 4 weeks PP and nothing. I didn't take anything but Motrin for a couple days after having DS. I did tear and get 8 stitches, but medicine just isn't my thing. I did use the peri bottle and witch hazel for 2 weeks PP. Feel better!
  • 15days PP and not taking anything except colace and metamucial still bc im scared not to. I took tylenol until like day 5 or 6 and then stopped with that, tucks, and the dermaplast. Ive used the dermaplast here and there again when my stitches are itching though to relieve that, but not bc they hurt.
  • 3 wks pp and I recently stopped taking percocet and 600mg ibuprofen. I didn't "take It easy" after CS so I paid the price for some complications. I started walking few hrs after when I was supposed to be on bed rest for 24 hrs because I didn't want a Foley catheter any longer. I was a bad non compliant patient. ....
  • I take the colace most days when I can remember. Other than that, nothing

Baby Will born 8/18. He's perfect.
  • A week post-surgery I was down to one pain killer per day. By two weeks I was off that too.
  • 19 days pp. Still taking colace and fiber as needed. I take 600 mg of ibprophen when needed. I'm still doing 1-2 sitz baths a day and using paper towels soaked in witch hazel down there. Also taking my iron and prenatal vitamin.
  • Day 1-2 after csection I was taking 4 ibuprofen and 4 tylenol a day. I'm on day 12 and now take 2 ibuprofen in the morning.
  • Naproxen and tucks, plus my beloved peri bottle at 6 days pp.
  • Oh and fiber and pruns lots of fiber!!!
  • 2 weeks pp and taking fiber, colace, and occasional Motrin. I had a third degree tear and I'm still in discomfort
  • I'm 4.5 days post vaginal delivery and I'm religiously using my peri bottle and witch hazel pads in my pads (witch hazel feels great and prevents stitches from sticking to pad.. Which I'm so fearful of!!). Also use gel smoothie pads for my nipples which have been a great comfort! Must say too I love the mesh underwear at night!! I stopped Percocet and ice packs 2days ago.
  • I'm 18 days PP and not even using peri bottle anymore. I stopped taking Motrin after about a week I think. I had only a tiny superficial tear so I feel pretty much completely healed at this point.
  • I was on vicodin and advil for a week after my c section. Then I went just to advil as needed for about a week. Now I really don't take much unless I'm really aching by the end of the day.
  • 6 days PP c section and I've only been taking OTC ibuprofen once a day. I'm not a huge fan of pain killer unless the pain is unbearable. I tend to fall asleep way too easily on it and at really bad times.
  • 6 days pp and I take Motrin as needed and use the witch hazel and pain spray as needed
  • 10 days PP and I'm not taking anything. I took ibuprofen for the first 3-4 days. If my stitches bother me I use a tucks and that is enough. My prenatal has probiotics so i haven't had felt the need for colace.
  • I stopped taking pain meds 5 days after my csection.
  • Day 1-2 after csection I was taking 4 ibuprofen and 4 tylenol a day. I'm on day 12 and now take 2 ibuprofen in the morning.

Wow you're awesome! I thought I was off the hard pain medicine fast but holy cow. No way I could have done without it on day 1 or 2!
  • VBAC nothing since day 3. I haven't even needed the peri bottle since day 1. I do take stool softeners though.

I had a c-section. I had IV meds the first 24 hours, norco and ibuprofen alternating the next 48 hours, and then I took ibuprofen here and there till around 10 days PP. I've taken it a couple times since then but not daily and sometimes for something like a headache. I haven't taken anything though in over a week (DD2 is 3 weeks 1 day old now).
  • 4 days PP and I'm still really sore. Using the peri bottle, witch hazel, dermaplast combo anytime I use the bathroom. I really need to take a warm bath, but haven't had a chance to yet. The nurse advised a bath 5-6 times a day, but laughed because no one has time for that. I haven't managed 1 yet and been home since Thursday. Ice packs on my tummy, the baby really did a number on the connective tissue there in those last couples weeks. Keeping to 600 mg IBprofin every 6 hours and percocet every 4 as needed. I wasn't sent home with too many of those, so trying to hold out for when I am really uncomfortable or need to feel good enough to do something like a doctor visit. I am also keeping my nipples lubed with lanolin, which has helped keep breastfeeding fairly painless so far.
  • I'm 8 days post C section, taking 2-3 ibuprofen800 a day plus a Percocet when needed. I have no pain tolerance at all, and my recovery in the hospital was really rough.

Haha thanks. It wasn't exactly by choice. I get sick when taking any sort of opiates and felt like throwing up would do more harm than good. The nurses were discouraged by my unwillingness to try anyways but I understand it's their job to take away the pain.
  • 4 weeks PP and take colace once a day, especially because I had anal fissures for 6 months on and off with my first... I'm trying to prevent that from happening!
  • 21 days pp and never took any meds-- pain, stool softener, or otherwise. Only used the one ice pack that the nurse put in immediately after delivery, used the peri bottle only once, and used the big hospital pads for just the first night. I've been done bleeding for a few days now. Thank god for my 5 lb 13 oz baby, and a very patient OB who made sure I didn't tear!!
  • I'm 16 days pp from c-section, I stopped taking meds at 8 days pp but still drink the mirilax (sp?) for a few days every week because I get stopped up.
