Ear piercings?!

hey mamas!! Who has gotten their baby girl's ears pierced?! We really want to do but she's a crier and we're scared to do it!

Re: Ear piercings?!

  • I got my girls ears pierced a week ago. I had mine pierced when I was a baby and I never had any trouble but my sister didn't have hers until she was 12 and they got infected and she had all kinds of issues (I know that it's not be I was a baby and she was older but) in my mind it was. Haha. One of the babies cried for a couple seconds but less than shots and then we did my other baby and she cried for a good 5 mins. It BROKE my heart. But I'll be honest I don't regret it. They look so cute and I haven't had any Trouble with them.

  • It didn't bother them at all afterwards? Like if there were to be touched??

Didn't seem to bother them at all. They weren't fussy or any different after the Initial meltdown. My one LO Is pretty sensitive and after shots she is miserable for the first day or so but she didn't act like that or anything! I was kind of surprised. I twist them all the time(which your suppose to) and neither one seem to care. And I clean them in the am and pm and have even cleaned them and they slept through it. So I think they are healing nicely and don't seem to even notice They are there. I've heard that bc they were so young when they got them they won't mess with them much as they grow bc they have always been there. And the earlier you them done the less infections happen bc their little dirty hands aren't always touching them so your able to keep them cleaner preventing infection. But of course this is just what I have heard and read and from my own experience. I love it and think their adorable and don't regret it at all.
  • We did it after getting the okay from our pediatrician at 2 months. I was feeling really guilty and nervous on our way to get them done but she literally cried for 10 seconds. I clean & turn them everyday and she doesn't touch them or even realize they're there! So much easier when they're this young, in my opinion.
  • How old are your LOs?

I want to get DDs ears pierced next week, she'll be 4 months next friday and i'm worried that i waited too long
  • I got Babygirls done about a week ago. She cried and then the girls who pierced her ears helped me cheer her up. So much easier to care them since her little arms can't yet pull at them.
  • Having worked in the ER I can't tell you how many times parents have brought their babies in with infections or the skin having grown over the earing. It then has to be cut out with a scalpel.
  • We just did my daughter's last week, a week away from 3 months. The doctors office did it and it took just s few minutes. She cried just about as much as her first round of shots, less than ten minutes. Honestly, she doesn't even remember it at this point and they haven't bugged her at all. Also, the doc said just to clean with soap and water and rotate a couple of times a day.
  • I had my own pierced when 2 weeks old, and many Latin customs have them pierced as newborns. My only issues are them being uneven, mine are. Also, I want to hold onto it as a bribe/reward later on. Maybe potty traing or if she's a thumb/paci sucker for a while. But I agree with getting them earlier rather than later!
  • Oh my goodness! So adorable!!!
  • As long as you make sure to clean and turn them everyday for at least a month then you shouldn't have any issues ! My LO got hers pierced at 2 months, and we're so happy we did it! Never had any problems and besides the initial crying which lasted only a couple of minutes right after the piercing they never seemed to bother her at all! :) you're girl is so beautiful ;)
  • Omg that pic @kforbes14 - so so so adorable! Our lil Dottie turns 4 months Monday. We want her ears pierced.
  • Horrid. Why put baby through pain when they're not actually gaining anything other than something to pull on and for you to show off. Selfish *******

  • Got my girls done at 16 weeks. She cried for a second. Then was smiling again. We went to Claire's at the mall. She hasn't seemed to notice them.
  • Omg Claire's and icing? Doesn't your doctor do it for you? Seems much cleaner.....
  • I'm scared to do my daughters. I had an infection when I had got mine done so I'm afraid she will too. Plus she loves sleeping on her side I feel like with an earring she won't be comfy. I rather wait till she's a little older
