Sudden Gray Hairs?!

I haven't had a single gray hair up to this point (I turn 31 next month), and all of a sudden I've had to tear out 3! Anyone else experiencing this? Pregnancy related? Or maybe stress? :/

Re: Sudden Gray Hairs?!

  • I have not.  Were you highlighting or dying your hair a lot pre-pregnancy?

None for me but my husband has several that popped out in his beard since I've been pregnant when he never had any before!
  • I am 31 and have occasionally found gray hairs for the past couple of years. I've never died my hair...I actually had an appointment scheduled to get my first dye job when I found out I was pregnant! I find that I'll go a couple months without finding any and then I'll find a bunch all at once. I always pull them out even though I know you're not supposed to.
  • I hate you. I had my first gray hair at 24. I don't have enough to dye my hair but every now and then I have to pull them out.

  • I will 34 on 9/4 and found 1 gray hair about 3 years ago. I plucked it out then it came back so I plucked it out again and it never returned until this past weekend. In the same spot! I haven't removed it and don't plan on it. I guess it's time lol.

Wow. I'm impressed you all have been able to go so long without gray hair, I found my first patch of grays at 20, but college was very stressful so I attribute it to that phase of life. I've noticed a few more since becoming pregnant, but nothing compared to what I already had going.
  • I'm 27 and haven't had any yet *knockonwood*...DH has one singular gray hair that he refuses to let me pluck, lol. My mom found one gray hair in college and started dying her hair regularly from that point on, so nobody knows for sure what age she started to really gray. My father didn't start to have grays until well into his 40s. My best friend started getting a ton of gray hairs when her father died, so maybe it is stress related?

  • I'm stupid grey over here. Been that way for a while. I'm basically on pick a color. With that being said I haven't had my hair dyed since right before my BFP at the end of May. I'm blonde/reddish so the lighter my hair the better in terms of not having to get it colored all the time. I finally have an apt on Friday for a cut and color and I'm irrationally excited about it.

With all that being said if I had "a few grey hairs" that I could pluck out I'd be giddy.
  • I'm so glad I'm not the only one!!! My older sister spotted a couple about 6wks or so ago and I was so shocked and totally started freaking out - I kinda wish she hadn't told me haha. I'm 29 and haven't had any at all previous to this so I'm hoping they'll disappear after pregnancy
  • My boyfriend picked a white hair out of my head when I was 7 or 8 weeks pregnant..I've never had one before. I thought that was bad until I looked in the mirror a week ago(at 20 weeks) and found a white eyebrow hair! I just turned 30, 3 weeks ago..My boyfriend has been losing his hair since he was 18 so he told me I get no sympathy from him..Lol. I suppose a yank and a tweeze are the least of my concerns at this point so it's okay, but I totally understand. It must be pregnancy related, there's so much changing in our bodies that it makes sense.
  • I can't really tell if I have any yet being a naturally light blonde hair but I wouldn't be surprised even tho I'm only 27 next week. DH came back from Afghan last year with lots of greys around his ears that he definitely didn't have when he left and he was only 25 then and he's just gotten more since our pregnancy. Gotta love the excitement but stress of baby!
  • I've had 2 since I was 23 (I'm 32 now)...until this pregnancy.  I counted 19 the other day.  Hair dye is on my shopping list for Monday.

  • Try 19. 19 years old and my step daughter is playing, doing my hair, like little girls do and and she finds it! Been finding them ever since. I swear it's gotta be some generic thing, my aunt has a lot of gray hair.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news ladies, but unfortunately if your white or grey hairs are as long as the rest of your hair, it's already been there for years. That particular hair folicle has run out of melanin and will never have color again, save for hair dye. :-S

  • I don't have grey hairs, but after my first pregnancy I started growing one single whisker, thick, black, right out of my neck. Awesome. I have added an additional whisker for each child. I have to stop before I have a full on beard and must shave
  • I tend to keloid. But during pregnancy I scar bubblier and dark not silver. My skin is dryer too. And I've had a few one off hairs in weird places during both my pregnancies. I get white hairs during stress times. I have super long hair and have had a few change at the root. Like and ombré type thing over night. Pregnancy is weird. Moles in scalp can have white hair. Moles come with pregnancy too.
