I'm 38 weeks on Monday. I do have GD (my a1c has never been outside the normal range and I am diet controlled) and hypothyroidism (I've been checked regularly and never been close to outside the normal range). I have had ultrasounds at 8, 20, 25, 30, 32, 36, and now 37 weeks. I am really unhappy with having them this often when all my conditions have been well controlled (blood sugar readings are fine, as well). I told my doctor I felt this was excessive at the last appt and she said that if I did not do the ultrasound, I would HAVE to do a nst.
I spoke with a friend who is a doula (and who I wish I would have asked to actually be mine, but didn't expect to feel like this). She shared that I had the right to decline these things and gave me a lot of great information about it. I am a totally non confrontational person and basically cry at the drop of the hat right now. I went today and had to have the biophysical ultrasound. Baby was not demonstrating breathing (he literally has in EVERY other ultrasound I've had) so they made me do an NST. I hadn't eaten, thinking I would be able to get in/get out and get something after... He was fine. He did "perfect."
Yet again, next week, I have to get another ultrasound... I didn't even make the appointment today because I had to get out of the office to cry. It was just a stressful appointment for absolutely nothing.
I am curious if anyone else has declined ultrasounds/nst? I don't see what it's going to prove at this point? Other than the fact that I have those controlled conditions, EVERYTHING has been picture perfect down to weight gained and blood pressure. I understand that they have liability/etc. from a med perspective. I am not looking to be criticized for that... Just curious about others' experiences! Thank you!

I feel like I don't need that many but what if I chose to not have one and they missed something. Unlikely but I don't want to take that chance.
This time around I've had a lot more. I'm regarded as high risk due to GD and I'm
Seeing a MFM who like to measure a lot for fluid and see how the dude is progressing. It's been good for me as I've stressed about the GD and the measurements show he's doing great regardless
But everyone has their own take.
