Cysts from fertility meds

has anyone experienced cysts from fertility meds? I was scheduled for my first IUI last month. I was on premara and follitism and hyper stimulated my ovaries. I had too many follicles and they cancelled my IUI

Waiting for my period after that felt like forever! I went in today for my day 3 blood work and ultrasound. I have 3 cysts on one side, one on the other. Some are pretty large. I now have to take birth control pills for a week and then go back to see if they shrunk. So frustrating and disappointing!

Has anyone else experienced this? Did it take long to shrink the cysts?

Re: Cysts from fertility meds

  • I have had them after every cycle ! It's very common. Some say birth control doesn't work to shrink cysts, but I had a cyst for 3 months that didn't go away until I did a round of birth control. It will be ok. I did accupuncure too to help it go away.

  • I had cyst that grew and had to go on birth control last month to help it shrink as it was too large to move forward with any treatments. I hated skipping the month I was so frustrated!! at my follow up scan after the birth control - the cyst was still there but shrunk enough to be able to do the clomid this month. The nurse at my Doctors office said there is a 90% chance of the birth control getting rid of the cyst on the first month. So hopefully you will only be out this month! Good luck to you :)
  • I have a cyst after one month of clomid. Doc said it was medium sized and didn't seem concerned. I also got blood tested then. This was cd3 so while I had my period. He said as long as it's not producing estrogen it's fine. Luckily it wasn't and I was able to continue with the iui. When I got checked again two days ago it was still there.
  • I had a number of cysts from my last medicated cycle. I was put on birth control for 2 weeks and then was able to jump right back in to another cycle . So I wouldn't necessarily think you would have to skip the month- just depends on your body. I know it is frustrating . Even being thrown off 2 weeks made me upset bc I had made travel plans around my cycles so my husband and I could be home at the right times (we travel a lot ).
