Tailbone pain

Does anyone else have really bad tailbone pain? Mines been bad when sitting on a not super soft surface since week 8 and now is just bad all the time. Really hurts right when I put pressure on and off the area and calms down for a while when o stay motionless (I. E. Hurts when I sit and when I get up most). Just wondering if anyone else has this and or if you've found anything that helps.

Re: Tailbone pain

  • This was mentioned during my physical therapy. Thankfully I haven't had issues with it but have pubic pain instead. It's getting much better with doing physical therapy and getting things back in alignment. The physical therapist seemed to feel there are things they can do for tail bone pain as well though. Maybe something to try?

I'm also wondering if something like a hemorrhoid pillow might help with taking some of the pressure off when you're sitting at least. I hope you can find something g that helps.

Oh yeah. My tailbone, and my back have been aching after sitting in my office chair all day. I broke down and got this overnighted to me:

Today was my first day using it and it has been amazing!

  • Mine was worse when I laid down; mornings were brutal. Last night I slept with my legs at a 90 degree angle (like sitting in a chair, but lying down) and I had significant less tailbone pain all day.
  • Yes this started happening to me about 2 weeks ago! @Angelface225 let us know if you get any helpful suggestions!
  • If you search for this topic you'll find a lot of helpful advice.
  • I bought a coccyx pillow by week 15, the pain was so unbearable. It hasn't been as helpful as I'd like, as the pain has a lot to do with the pitch of your pelvis when you're sitting or laying down. I would recommend physical thearpy, a chiro, or even a prenatal massage; they will loosen up the muscles and also give you advice on the best way to sit.

  • Yes I do and today I started having pain to the right of my tailbone that feels like pinching. My back pain is because of my job but I have pain also if I sit too long. Forget about sitting at a picnic table.
  • Chiro just said to keep doing my hip stretches. :-( No magic tricks

  • I actually had this once before I was pregnant and again now that I am. I went to PT for it the first time, it was so painful, and they gave me some great exercises. Unfortunately some of them are not pregnancy safe. But basically you want to stretch your hips and keep them loose and also strengthen your deep abdominal muscles, (think planks, bird dogs, etc). Also kegel exercises are helpful because that deep kegel muscle can help pull the tailbone back where it is supposed to go.

The thing that is bringing me the most relief right now is swimming laps at the pool. It is the only time I am actually free of hip and tailbone pain, and it lasts several hours after I get out of the water.

I'm sorry you are dealing with this. It really is painful!
  • I was having really bad pain in my tail bone and lower back. My chiropractor (who is amazing) told me if the baby is sitting low and far back it would put pressure on that area. He said when start to feel the pain to get down on all fours for a few minutes and let gravity bring the baby back to a more central positon. So far it is working well for me.

Yeah I been getting this, it's so uncomfortable the only thing that helps are heat patches and sitting slightly forward.
