Dating ultrasound saying approx 5 weeks, i thought I was at least 10 weeks along

I'm so worried. I thought for sure I would get a glimps of my 10 weeks baby inside my tummy. But when the tech performed the ultrasound it was only showing the sack with a 5 week old baby with no heart beat detected. Could my dates be so off that I am really only 5 weeks along? I know when my Last period was and I'm not that irregular, only a couple days. I'm expecting the worst. I have to go back again for another ultrasound in a couple of weeks to see if there is any growth. My pregnancy symptoms have seemed to disappear but I haven't had any spotting or cramping, I'm really confused.

The big question is when did you get your positive pregnancy test? If it was more than 2 weeks ago it is unlikely that you would be only 5 weeks along.

Yeah I know what you're saying. Last period was June 16th, probably 2 weeks after that is when I had a positive. I'm defiantly expecting the worst.

same thing happened to me. I go back to the doctor tomorrow. I still think I am further along? I wonder if that could be possible?

I'm holding onto some little bit of hope but In the back of my mind I have a bad feeling. Hoping for a good outcome for you! Fingers crossed you're just measuring a bit behind and nothing more

Hang in there but I'll be honest if there is no heartbeat it def sounds like a blighted ovum. I had one too. Discovered shortly before 11 weeks. Sorry

Thanks everyone for your imput and kind words. My doctor sent me for more blood work to check my levels and I'll be going for another ultrasound in 2 weeks time. He said if there isn't any sign of a miscarriage physically that there still might be a chance that things are okay and that my dates are just way off. That's the only little bit of hope I have to hang on to. I'm not convinced completely but what else can I do is just think positive and hope for the best.

I would say maybe try to consider getting a 2nd opinion.. A blighted ovum and a miscarriage are the two worst things that could happen to me right now too.. I'm almost just 6 weeks.. good luck

Well I'm going to start with the blood work to see where the levels are at then another ultrasound. Can't see it being a blighted ovum due to we did see something on the screen, the technician and doctor didn't say anything either if that's what it was. There was something measuring 5 weeks. Usually an ultrasound can't pick up a heart beat that early. It's just my dates, I can't see me being a month off but you never know. Good luck to you as well, hopefully you will pass through the first trimester with no concerns

UPDATE..so I miscarried. Looks like my pregnancy just didn't progress anywhere past 5 weeks. It's been 2 weeks now since everything took place. I ended up taking mistroprostol to just pass everything so I could move on quicker. It was a horrible experience, all bleeding and spotting has finally stopped. I though I'd never be ready to try again but I think I'm ready. I think I will wait until I see my period return for a cycle or 2 before trying. Sorry if anyone else is going through something like this
