Baby Brain!

Hey ladies.

The other day I was driving, I got to a green light and stopped completely as if it was a red light! My friend who was in the passengar seat screamed "what on earth are you doing, its green" I honestly have no idea why I would do that!?

I've heard that its normal to really abnormal silly things while pregnant. Has anyone else done anything silly you wouldn't usually do... :D

Re: Baby Brain!

  • Yes! When I was pregnant with DD I went to the bathroom, then finished up and washed me hands and walked out. DH yelled at me, "did you even flush?! I didn't hear it!!" Whoops! Lol. I just completely forgot.

  • I have put the milk in the cupboard before and cereal in the fridge!
  • Pregnancy brain is a real thing. But what they don't tell you, is it never goes away. I'm so forgetful, and do abnormal things periodically (forget to flush, put peanut butter in the fridge, etc), but I mainly am just forgetful. I lose my phone probably 15 times a day. It takes me 3x as long to leave the house because I'm always retracing my steps to do things I forgot, or to find something. Oh, and lets not talk about the time I forgot to strap my older child into his carseat. Luckily it was a short distance drive, but ugh! The struggle is real.

  • DH and I were at the store shopping for dinner: I was going to make chicken pot pie...I forgot to buy pie crust...
  • When I was pregnant with DD, I put my iPod in the fridge on a regular basis....as in weekly.
  • I forgot what kind of Apple phone I have. iPhone 6 - noting for posterity.
  • Yes, baby brain is real and is permanent in my case anyway - I don't know if it's from the exhaustion of being pregnant, being pregnant with a toddler or even when not pregnant from just having children. No matter how much sleep I get - I am almost always tired and I can't even remember what I did yesterday half the time.

I have no examples for you right now because I'm too tired to think straight ;)

  • I drove a good third of a mile with my emergency brake on. I was wondering why my car was backing so slowly out of the driveway and it didn't even dawn on me that it was the e brake that I always use.
  • I was feeding the dog the other day and poured his food straight into his full water bowl. My husband thought it was hysterical. Me. Not so much.
  • My pregnancy brain always strikes when I am teaching. I've said some crazy things, and other times, I will COMPLETELY lose my thought in the middle of lecture. It's the worst!
  • I'm having a hard time with words, like my brain and my mouth aren't connected. Super frustrating!

  • Last pregnancy, multiple times, I paid for food at the drive thru and drove away without the food.

Now I have mom brain and pregnancy brain.

I left my car on in the parking lot at work all day. I didn't realize it until I couldn't find my keys at the end of the day. Also, turns out I can't open the hatch without power so I couldn't get to my jumper cables...

This. I've been pregnant or breastfeeding (or both) since Jan 2012. My brain is mush.

  • I put off all my school planning til this week (last week of holidays boo!) and discovered that I didn't actually bring any planning home with me in July - whoops! Gonna be super unprepared next week!
  • I have driven through the drive through, not seen the speaker and had to order at the window.
I'm always losing my keys and phone. It doesn't get better after birth, or really doesn't and it sucks.

I just did that this morning!

I did this last Monday. Thankfully a coworker hunted me down to ask me why my car was still running in the parking lot. I totally pretended it was on purpose and used the trip back out there to go to the store for a donut.
  • I am a bridesmaid in my good friends wedding. Her shower is tomorrow. We have all been planning it and discussing it this past week, almost daily. Today I had to ask a friend outside of the wedding if her shower was tomorrow because I legitimately cannot keep days straight anymore. It's awful!
  • I'm a teacher and I was making some copies after school today so that I'd be ready for next week, but I couldn't figure out how to do the double sided copies since one of my pages wasn't 2-sided. (Which normally is something I could figure out easily.) Anyway, another teacher came and caught me staring in confusion at the copier. She smiled and helped me figure it out and then she winked and said "pregnancy brain"! I felt so silly and embarrased that it was so hard for me to figure out, but then I laughed at myself.

This is my first child and so I didn't realize the pregnancy brain could start so soon...lol!

Ditto on this! My students just found out two weeks ago and I think they are trying to figure out if I really am crazy or if I can legit blame baby brain!! I go with the latter. But they still look at me like I have horns growing out of my head some (most?!) days, haha.
  • I keep forgetting my phone number so when I leave messages for people (realtor, doctors office, etc) I have to end the message in the middle of forgetting my number because I'm flustered. I hit 1 in hopes that I get the option to rerecord, but that's not always the case.

I'm a teacher too and this happens to me regularly!  It's going to be amazing to see how much these kids actually learn this year from me.  And forget about writing something--lots of misspelled words!  ex. it took me way to long to write this cause I kept having to use the backspace!

  • Oh reading these makes me feel so much better! I can't think of words to finish my sentence. I literally cannot recall the word I am trying to say. And to have 5 1/2 mort months of this. I'm going to be in trouble.
  • This weekend at a family reunion an hour away from home I locked my keys in the car. I have not done that in nearly 10 years. DH was such a good sport about it though, and luckily someone had AAA so they came and unlocked for us for free.

  • My S.O got soooo mad at me today because apparently I told him I would let the dogs out around 3pm. Well 8pm rolled around and when he asked me I responded with "I said I would do that? Im sorry but I dont remember saying that" Lol his face went to irritated in .2 seconds.
  • My thing lately is opening the oven when I'm meaning to open the dish washer, and then of course the dish washer when I'm meaning to open the oven.

    What. The. Heck.

  • I was getting juice for my son the other morning.... Now for him, juice is really mostly water with just a splash of juice... so i filled his cup mostly with water, then instead of adding a splash of juice, I added a splash of milk!  Thankfully I realized before I gave it to him, water and milk sounds disgusting to me!

And the night before that, I made a double batch of pumpkin bread.... well I forgot to put the butter in!  Still tasted good, but just had a really funky consistency lol.

Locking your keys in the car is the worst! Glad it worked out ok though. I once locked mine in the car at the airport, then proceeded to miss my flight. They couldn't get me on another flight for 10 hours, so I planned to go home. Then I got to my car and discovered the keys were inside. I had to wait for a tow truck, which I had to pay for, that didn't get there for 4 1/2 hours. By then I didn't have enough time to drive home without hitting traffic, so I just drove around the airport. Pretty lame day!

I forgot to let my dogs out last night before bed, and one of them went potty in the house. I didn't see it until I was literally walking out the door, late, so it's just sitting there waiting for me to get home. I feel bad though, that was totally my fault :(
