Miscarriage/Pregnancy Loss

Chromosome 9 inversion.

Just got back from the Dr. and I feel like I've been kicked in the gut.

Found out that I have Chromosome 9 inversion. As well as 4 types of blood clotting issues.

I just got off of google researching Chromosome 9 inversion and seems to be very problematic with infertility and recurrent miscarriages. I've had 4.

My dr. didn't seem to worried about it...she said since the panel for Thrombosis looks so strong...she's going to go ahead and treat me as if that is the issue. And if I happen to miscarry again, then we will test the embryo for the chromosomal issues.

If I miscarry again. I don't think I can take another miscarriage even though I know the possibility is so high.

I just want to curl up in a ball and cry. I feel so defeated right now. I just wasn't expecting a chromosome issue. NOTHING like this is in my family...every single woman in my family is insanely fertile with anywhere from 2-4 kids! My mom had 5 for crying out loud!!

Why me? :(

Re: Chromosome 9 inversion.

  • Oh wow. I am so sorry. This is a lot of news to take in such a short amount of time. I wish I had something more to say that could help. That's absolute garbage and I am so sorry you have to deal with it.

  • Oh no, I am so sorry, I am going through my RPL testing as well right now and waiting for results. In my case, my latest loss was at 12 w and they did test the baby, (trisomy 18) but I guess all cases are different. Why would they want to wait for a 5th loss to do further testing?
I know how you feel about everyone around having lots of babies!
Again, I am so sorry you have to go through this, Sending much love and strength you way.

  • @ceclarlinetlo thank you. Yeah it was such a shock to hear! They say it's quite common and like I said my Dr. is currently convinced that my thrombosis is the culprit of everything - but it's something that still lingers as a possibility in the background. I just hate that I'll have to suffer yet another miscarriage to find out. Ugh. Just praying the next time around with my new treatments will solve everything. Wishful thinking perhaps...but gotta stay positive.

Still have the xray, amh, fsh and husbands analysts coming up. Can't wait for it all to be over. :(

  • @adrimolina they have to wait until another miscarriage because they need to test the embryo for the chromosomal issues and see if it's in any coordination with Chromosome 9 issues.

I'm just praying it's just the blood clotting that is what's causing issues but after reading about Chromosome 9...I am not so sure. I just feel like the more I learn, the more that glimmer of hope fades away.

I can handle blood clotting issues, but now we are going down a road I never thought I'd have to go down - and I still might not have to - but the unknown of it all is what is scary.

I'll tell you this much, if I do ever end up having a child...I'm stopping at 1. Never want to go through this again!

I just feel so defeated and tired. Definitely a bad day.

I hope your results come back normal and I'm so sorry to hear about your recent loss. That is so tough. It's just so unfair. :(

  • @adrimolima thanks...today is slightly better! I'm hopeful for the treatment of the blood clotting issue and hopefully that will result in a healthy pregnancy, and this lousy chromosome issue won't be an issue. They say that it is a very common inversion and that it's almost considered normal since so many people have it. So I am ignoring the conflicting reports saying other wise and just blindly going to hold on to that theory. I mean, if one of my parents have it, and I have it...and still came out normal ...then there is hope, right?! haha

Positive mental attitude is all I can do! :)
