Re: Gallbladder surgery 20 weeks.

  • I've had my gallbladder removed but not whilst pregnant. It was a quick and simple surgery, a bit uncomfortable for about 5 days after.

  • I had mine out in December before I got pregnant. It was an easy recovery. My wisdom teeth removal was way worse! With GB removal they gave me a prescription for Percocet but I didn't even need that. You might get gas pains in your shoulder, but walking and rocking in a chair will help that to go away pretty quick. I had mine laparoscopic, but I know when you're pregnant you have a higher risk of having to have an open surgery which will be a much different recovery with staples and a big scar. Get it out while you can though, GB pain is no joke! You'll feel so much better. Good luck!!!
  • I just had my gallbladder taken out and I'm 28 weeks along.. It was very nerve racking but the surgeon said he wish he had me way before .. So far recovery has been alright been In a lot of pain but I'd rather this then have another gallbladder attack...they did it laporscopically but where they have to put the insicions it's close to your uterus so the sooner the better.. Babies doing great and that was such a relief ! Really was worried about preterm labor, and damage to the uterus but thank goodness everything turned out good.. I would suggest gettin it done now since it's much more riskier when your further along :( hope you feel better and get relief from your gallbladder !
