Thursday Randoms

Got something good you need to share but don't have a place to put it? Now you do!

I'm feeling extra thankful that I have a sucking machine who managed to help dislodge my clogged ducts this morning. I wore a new nursing tank all day yesterday that was WAY too tight in the boob area but none of my others were clean. I got home engorged and with the underside of my right boob feeling tender and sore. I let her nurse on that side off and on throughout the night and this morning around 5, I couldn't take it anymore. I started to massage the area (OUCH) and hand express out what I could. Very minimal relief. Finally baby woke up at 6:30 to eat and I latched her and started massaging and Good Lord, it was like a scene out of a movie. Now I have an oversupply anyway, so feeding her is always messy and full of fussiness and chokes, but there she was still half asleep happily sucking and cooing away when all of the sudden, her eyes shot open and she pulled off looking horrified. She started choking to the point where she was turning blue. I am frantically patting her back while trying to contain the mess that is spraying everywhere. Soaked the sheets, the Boppy, her, and myself, but FINALLY some relief. Still a tiny bit tender so we will have to do it again, but needless to say, that tank is going in the trash. X_X

  • @megvaddi Hahahaha that's basically what happened. I have never seen anything like it.

With all the issues that breast feeding has given this little babe, I'm surprised she still even wants to nurse. She often looks at me with this sad "Why is this happening to me?" look and then growls and latches on like an angry piggy.

Daya does the same thing! My husband thinks it hilarious when he's in the next room and just hears "hey... Stop growling at my nipples." She's so weird but I laugh every time.
  • I am thankful I am at home with LO and not at work today--I work at MS State and they had a shooter on campus this morning.

    Thank God! Ppl are nuts
  • DH laughs at me because I try to reason with DD. "Sweetie just because you are awake does not mean you're hungry!"

My girl doesn't know how to be awake and not eat!

My baby girl is finally 7 lbs at almost 8 weeks old! She's ironically almost too tall for newborn sized clothes, but not wide enough for 0-3! Tall and skinny like her daddy!

My little man has the same problem. Way too long for newborn but swims in the 0-3.
  • @kjandericka do you always feed him every four hours or is that just the middle of the night routine? Wondering if I'd be able to do that to sneak in more sleep at night! Baby girl currently eats every 3.

My inlaws live next door and come over every single effing day. Both baby hogs. Other people come to see the baby and these 2 a$$h0les like won't give up holding the baby. I'm tired of it. My mil takes my sleeping baby out of her swing to hold her and not support her back the right way. My idiot husband won't say anything to them cause he doesn't want to hurt their feelings.
My parents come almost everyday too. And while it's annoying, it doesn't annoy me as much as the inlaws. I just want order back in my home again. I don't want people coming over everyday.

Omgoodness you poor thing! I totally feel you on being sick of the visitors and wanting some normalcy at home. We've had two days out of the last nine without visitors and both days were pure bliss. I was able to feed LO on a regular schedule and even get her bedtime routine done in time for bedtime!

My in-laws thankfully don't come over every day but the one time they did come over they came right at her bedtime and did not leave until a quarter after midnight, meaning my baby did not go to bed until midnight bc MIL wouldn't put her down and would not stop flashing in her face with her cell phone camera. She has been calling/texting every night asking for pictures well after I've put baby girl to bed and I've been declining and patiently reminding her of the baby's bedtime. She is not getting it lol.

Your husband sounds like mine wherein he won't step up because he doesn't want to hurt their feelings. After that first night that they disrupted her schedule to the extreme, I took it upon myself to remind them that their late-night habits wouldn't be accommodated when it comes to my newborn. You should do the same!

He only goes 4 hours at night. He normally feeds every 3 hours from 9:30am until around 6:30pm and then I usually feed him at 8:45pm so he doesn't go as long between the 6:30pm feeding and11pm feeding. The extra hour at night makes a world of difference! He was feeding every 3 hours the first week and I always felt like a zombie in the morning.
  • I read posts here about babies sleeping 4 hr stretches at night and I kinda want to cry. #mybabypartiesallnight

Truth! During the day, he naps like a pro, but when the sun goes down he becomes a party animal!
  • We did the MN state fair today.  I had so many people ask me why I would bring a 3.5 week old to the fair.  Sorry, but I need my cheese curds and fried pickles.  (and Thank God I'm 20 pounds below my pre-pregnancy weight...no guilt!)
