hello everyone,
I went for a follow up appointment, my Bp has been high during my past two appointments so my doctor has been monitoring me weekly. Because this is the third time I've had high Bp she diagnosed me with gestational hypertension (I was tested for preeclampsia and GD and both were negative). Doc said we'll schedule my induction date when I'm 31/32 weeks, it's too early now to schedule it. She said I'll probably deliver around 38 weeks if my Bp remains where it is (it's not high enough for me to be medicated at this point). Have any other moms experienced this?
Re: Induced early for high BP
They also probably want to make sure you don't develop preeclampsia which can lead to eclampsia which can increase your risk for seizure.
Take it easy and good luck to you mama
I was so nervous because I had only heard horror stories(everybody looooves to share them when they find out you're being induced!) so I googled "good induction stories" the night before. It actually really calmed my nerves!
Also, labor was by no means a walk in the park, but it was only about 4 1/2 hours long with pitocin after they broke my water, and I didn't "have" to get pain meds like people told me I would. So I still went as unmedicated as possible.
Just wanted to share a good induction story. I hope it goes well for you!!
I would tell your doctor you want to wait and see how things progress. For me, eliminating work stress and staying off my feet kept it very low and I had no issues.
You can also ask about taking meds. I have asked that if it goes up this time we try meds before bed rest. My midwife has agreed. Luckily it is staying very low.
One thing that helped is buying my own BP cuff and taking it at home a few times a day. I bring a log in to every appointment. It helped me avoid early induction last time.
Also this time I was diagnosed with GD and the diet has really dropped my BP. I would highly recommend trying a lower carb higher protein diet. Look up the Brewer's diet- it's for high BP. I don't go that far because it's extreme. But just cutting sugar and some carbs and eating more protein than normal has dropped my BP about 10 points on top and bottom in a month.
