(discuss) Bringing baby clothes to the hospital...

I've had 3 babies and I've only really brought their "going home outfit" to the hospital as they kinda all just chilled in the hospital clothes for our stays. Yesterday a friend of mine had posted her newborn at the hospital in a couple of super cute outfits (for pics I assume) and it got me wondering how many of you bring multiple changes of clothes for baby?

Re: (discuss) Bringing baby clothes to the hospital...

  • I only brought the going home outfit for DD. At the hospital she was just in a onesie and her sleep sack/swaddle. I'll probably do the same for baby #2.

  • I brought a couple of different outfits but it was for pictures only which included babys going home outfit. Otherwise baby stayed in the hospital gown during their stay.
  • I only brought one outfit for my first but I'm thinking of bringing a few extras for this baby.
  • One outfit here too. I think we'll do the same this time as well. I am a minimalist when it comes to my hospital bag, and I feel the baby looks just fine in the sleep sack while in the hospital. Less stuff for us to carry and unpack later.
  • I've only had a baby in the NICU, so I can't speak from past experiences. We are team green, so not going to have a ton of "super cute" neutral options... Probably a few onsies, pants, maybe some Jammies. Then I'll bring cute beanies... A girlie one and a boyish one, so people know...boy or girl when they come visit/ in the pics we send. That's all I'm planning on.
  • I should add, my multiple outfits will be for going home, in case things don't fit, or maybe if one leans more to a certain sex... Not for special pictures or anything. The beanies will just be my way of telling our family/ friends the sex. I am an overpacker for sure.
  • I way over packed EVERYTHING with my son... but this time I plan on bringing just a couple outfits. Our hospital photos are fairly nice, so I'll bring an outfit for that as well as a going home outfit (actually probably 2 of each, one in newborn and one in 0-3 months - 8+ lb babies).
  • Only brought a few things for going home.Ended up taking him home barefooted in a romper, it was July so I wasn't concerned about him getting cold.
This time around I will have to think about getting LO warmer socks, mittens maybe and a warm hat plus warmer blankets or taking LO home in warm footie pajamas.

  • I'm just going to bring a coming home outfit, hospital clothes are fine w me.
  • I have only brought going home outfits.

  • Just a going home outfit. DS actually lived in the little hospital shirts and a blanket for weeks once we brought him home. Made diaper changes a breeze!
  • I'll be bringing a personalized onesie for him to wear. It's the onesie I had embroidered, it was how I told DH. It has our last name across it with an army crest. (DH is military).
And I'll have his going home outfit.
Other than that, he can chill in his hospital stuff for the first day. As the first day I don't want ANY visitors. Just me, DH and my mom. (Of course DS #1 too).
  • I'm pregnant with my fourth baby and will be bringing multiple outfits to the hospital. I don't want my baby in the t-shirt and diaper duo that my previously kids were in. I guess I just want to go all out.
  • Mine were in NICU for 3 days so they just wore diapers and/or little shirts. This time I'll bring a couple onesies and swaddle blankets because we use organic and flame retardant free baby things, though I have no intention of dressing her up cute for pictures.
  • I only brought one outfit for taking baby home. While in the hospital the baby hung out in the little shirt they provide and a swaddle blanket.

  • I had a few outfits for my son (because I wasn't sure on going home outfit) and I was happy to have him in his own clothes. I'll be bringing a few sleepers in 0-3 mo size as my first son would not have fit newborns lol
  • Coming home outfit, SwaddleMe blanket, and I also brought a hat with her name embroidered.
  • I brought a couple onesies, socks, a sleeper and the going home outfit. I used one or two of the onesies I brought. I'll probably do the same. Our hospital didn't provide a gown or anything for the baby, just swaddle blankets.

  • I only brought a going home outfit for my daughter

  • Since my family has a tendency to have big baby's I was planning on being two outfits, a nb and a 0-3 just incase.
  • We brought 4 different outfits and 4 beenies, three different stuffed animals for photos. It sounds excessive, but new born clothes are so tiny and the options were great to have because he was much smaller than we had expected and a couple outfits fit better than others for our mini photo shoot.
  • I bring pajamas, a few muslin blankets, hats/headbands (we're team green) and the brand of pacifiers I prefer. Plus the going home outfits. I don't like leaving them in just the t-shirt and diaper. I want to use my own things.
