20 Week Anatomy Scan - Very long baby?

Hey all! We had our anatomy scan yesterday, and I was so shocked to find out our peanut is a BOY!! When she measured the femur, she said it was odd that it was so long. My husband is 6'5", and I am 5'9", so we knew we wouldn't be having a petite baby, but the NP told us we have a very big baby.  She reassured us by saying he was big, but proportionate, all over, but he was very long for his gestational age.  We are supposed to go back in four weeks to make sure things are still ok, but he was 14 inches at 20 weeks!! Anyone else have a long femur and/or baby?

    I don't remember what my kids lengths were at the u/s's but they were all 21 inches at birth. Long and Lean.
    What's he measuring as far as weeks? 1 week ahead or ?
    N (2004)A (2007), N (2010), and L (due 1/2016)

    We had our scan yesterday and are having a boy also! The tech didn't give us length but said our son is 15oz. From what I've seen, that's average for 22w gestation. Dr didn't seem concerned though.
    Eta I was 20w1d at the scan.

  • We didn't get a specific length but we're told that she has long legs also. Her femur at 19 weeks measured 22 weeks.

    Yes, one week ahead, but she was going to leave it up to my OB to change my due date.

    @holocene - ours measures 24 weeks at 20!!

    I had an anatomy scan yesterday(20w exactly) as well and the head and belly measured about 20w5d but the femur was 21w3d. I forget the actual measurements. She said everything looked perfectly fine and weight was 14oz which I thought sounded high but she said was average. I don't have another check up with doctor for two weeks but the tech seemed very happy with the measurements.
    As far as I've heard, they don't use size for dating after a certain point because the normal range varies so much, that two babies at the same age could be completely different sizes.
    I wouldn't worry unless the doctor told you that he's getting too big, which they pretty much don't do until you're getting closer to due date.
  • Thanks all!! I go see the OB NP next week, so we'll see what she says!

  • My anatomy scan isn't until Friday, but at my regular appt last week the doctor I saw (they make you rotate) did an ultrasound and said we had a tall baby. Can't wait to see what the tech says on Friday though!
