Breached

I'm 32 weeks and she is still breached.   She was breached at 20 weeks and I had to have an ultrasound yesterday for other reasons and she is still breached at 32.3 weeks.  Head is way up near my ribs. I was told she still has time to turn.  But when does this become an issue?

Re: Breached

  • Still has time for sure. If they are measuring big prob less likely as they have less room though. But you still have til 36-37 weeks before concern of csection. Plenty of time!

  • My baby is breech as well. I can feel his or her head in my rib cage. My doctor said she won't get concerned until 37 weeks. Plenty of time to flip!

You still have time. Just so you know and this is strickly depending on your doctors comfort level. I recently read in a magazine that some doctors are comfortable with breach delivery depending on various factors. If that's something you're ok with, you could mention it to them and see how they feel.

Maybe do a google search on breach births for more information? Again it's something both your doctor and you would have to be ok with. I don't know any information other than what I read, so please don't think I'm advocating it. Just a suggestion for your next appointment!

My other suggestion is seeing a chiropractor and getting on your hands and knees to rock back and forth. Good luck!
  • My doc also told me they don't worry about this until at least 37 weeks.
  • go swimming and then go to spinningbabies.com - I did the upside down off the couch after swimming. baby was flipped by the next morning. = D My midwife swore it would work and it did. Little guy got froggy and flipped back, but did it again and he's been head down every since.
  • Find a chiropractor that practices Webster technique. You can also do accupuncture treatment to encourage baby to flip. I'd start with te chiro NOW.

  • My baby is transverse, even worse :-(
I hope he turns, otherwise I can kiss my waterbirth good bye!
  • My second flipped at 38 weeks. Even the ob was surprised. This one has been breech the ENTIRE pregnancy. I've started doing the Webster technique and upside down off the couch as well. I'll find out next week if it worked. I still feel like she is breech though :/

  • quick tip using music at the base of your tummy for about half hr can help the baby turn as he's following the sound, also warm /cold compress, cold at the top of the belly and warm at the bottom baby will be guided to the warm area.

  • Breech here. Though I already have to have a c section for other reasons. My OB wants him to turn though because it makes the csection easier, I guess.
  • I would go to a chiropractor now who specializes in prenatal - NOW.
I had my chiro start checking position at 30 weeks so we could be on top of it.
  • My OB won't worry until 36 weeks. I believe DD finally turned at 36 weeks. It was the most uncomfortable night and morning of my pregnancy but I knew it had happened and I was so relieved. Couple days later she dropped and I could breeeaaaattthhhe!!

  • My OB won't worry until 36 wks.

I have been doing the forward inversion from spinning babies, walking, pelvic tilts, swimming, and watching my posture when sitting (no crossing legs, not slouching). Baby was breech at 26 weeks and has since turned and stayed there, now 31 wks, fingers crossed. There's a laundry list of things you can do daily on spinning babies. Worth a shot!

My first was breech and never turned. Throughout that pregnancy I did yoga, walked, & got adjustments 2/wk by a prenatal chiro, but no luck. I've been much more proactive this time and focusing on things that have shown to be more effective.

    Good luck!
