Pronouncing Rosalind

so, Rosalind is one of the names on our girl short list, and I absolutely love the nn Rosie. My question is, should it be pronounced Rose-a-lind or Rozz-a-lind?

I'm inclined to go with Rose-a-lind, but is that correct? How would you pronounce it? I don't want to use a pronunciation most people wouldn't come up with without prompting.

Not with as much of the z sound as Rozz. I'd pronounce it more like "Ross-a-lind"

This is correct as well as the soft s (ross-a-lind) but you can choose to pronounce it "rose" instead.

But yes it is Rozz so if you don't like it that way I would suggest Rosalie, Rosemary, Rosa, Rose or something similar and use the nn Rosie.

I've only ever heard it pronounced as ROZ-a-lind, same as Rosamund (ROZ-a-mund). So to me, "Rose-a-lind" sounds like a mispronunciation.

LOVE the name Rosalind though and Rosie is sweet.

Rosalind is my stepmoms name and we pronounce it rozz-Lynn. No one has ever pronounced the a in the middle or the d at the end.

I would say Rose-a-lind, but I like PP's suggestion of Rosalie to ensure correct pronunciation and to lend itself to nn Rosie (which is just adorable for a little girl)

I've NEVER heard anyone say Rose-a-lind. That is definitely a mispronunciation. The name doesn't have to make the 'rose' sound to use the nickname Rosie.
