Infertility

Introduction

Hi, I've been reading a few posts here and there and have found it helpful to know others are going through similar situations. I was diagnosed with endometriosis (stage 2) last Aug and had an abolition surgery after severe pelvic pain. The hubs and I were encouraged to get started trying if we were interested in having kids. We got married last Oct and started trying immediately after. In Jan I didn't get a positive OPK reading, had a extra long cycle and so called my OB-GYN. They tested my progesterone and determined I wasn't ovulating. After another month and experiencing the same thing I tried clomid twice with no success. I then had a cyst on an ovary and had to wait for it to go away. After it did I tried fumera. That was this month. I was really excited because I got a positive OTK result on day 11, exactly when my doc said I would. 5 dpo I started spotting heavily. It lasted for 6 days. My doc was out of town but his staff checked for ectopic pregnancy, it was negative. They also determined I didn't actually ovulate after all. I have now started a very light period. The process has been hard. Usually I'm fine but some days it hits me really hard. I'm also wondering if anyone else has received positive LH surge readings but then not ovulated? It's very frustrating.

Re: Introduction

  • I have had +OPKs without ovulating. 7 in one month in fact. I have PCOS so that means sustained LH while anovulatory. I have never been so aggravated in my life as when I was staring at those lying smiley faces, so I hear your pain.

There is also a condition called LH unruptured follicle syndrome. But maybe in your case, the femara got you close but not quite there on your first cycle. Are you using a trigger shot and when are they monitoring (u/s)? Femara worked well on my first cycle but even better on my second. If they aren't giving you a trigger, I'd ask about it for sure!

  • Thank you! I'm glad to hear someone else has experienced the same lying smily faces! I don't have PCOS but it does sound like the LH unruptured follicle syndrome might make sense. I haven't use a trigger shot, but I'll ask about it. My doc gets back tomorrow and I expect to see him in the next few days.
