Car seat base. Gotta vent a little.

DH and I were in a fender bender yesterday. We were driving in the parking lot and an SUV just backed right up into my car door (I was the front seat passenger). We were fine and baby girl checked out okay at the hospital, but we JUST put in her carseat base like yesterday. I told hubby we should wait as long as possible because we will have to replace it of we were to be in an accident. Well sure enough. The doctor reminded us it has to be replaced. I think DH thought I was making this up. It is a 90 dollar Britax Elite, so it's pretty pricey. Their insurance will pay for it, but here we are 1 week from my due date and our base needs to be replaced and car needs to go in the shop. So freaking angry!!

    Insurance will replace it for exact replacement cost! So buy it now and keep the receipt, hopefully you get the car back before baby comes.

    Ugh that's so annoying! I installed mine yesterday and am now worried I'll get in an accident since it's in there.

    It just sucks to spend 90 dollars we were not planning on because I'm out of work until I return from having the baby. And now we will have to wait to buy a few things for her nursery. Plus, they're only sold online, so I have to wait for them to process and ship (we do have another one for my car in the meantime). It's just still super annoying.

    I told my husband I was worried about installing the car seat too soon in case of an accident and he suggested just the base. I didn't realize that needs to be replaced also! How annoying. I'm super OCD and over prepared so I can understand your frustration :( maybe like PP suggested, ask their insurance if you can buy the base now and be reimbursed for it since you're so close to your due date!

    I'm 39 weeks, so I figured it would be a good time to install it (he wanted to when I was like 35 weeks and I told him to wait). He seems to think it is fine (I told him nope, nope and nope. It has to be replaced). So we were just 2 really pissed off people yesterday. If I wasn't pregnant, I would have beat the crap out of the man and his wife. I understand accidents happen, really I do but the guy says to my husband "I guess you didn't see us backing up there, huh"? Um no asshole, we were driving. Then his wife asks if I am okay. I say "yeah I think so" she looks at her husband and says "you heard her say that, right"? I say "we'll I am 9 months pregnant so..." she has the nerve to say "you're fine. You're just so shaken up because you're so pregnant". I almost came across the hood of the car and punched her lol.

    Hahaha ohhhh yeah, it would've gone down in that parking lot if it were me!!

    That's so annoying. We are putting ours in while I'm at the hospital just for this reason.

    I would be so frustrated. And the comments they made...seriously? I have zero tolerance for comments like what they made, especially 38.5 weeks pregnant, so it would have gone down! Hope your new base gets here quickly and your car gets fixed soon!

    What a bi-otch!!! I cannot BELIEVE the wife's comments!!! Sure, all the rest sucks, too, but my husband is a hothead and probably would have decked her for saying that, woman or not. Well, he's pretty respectable so he probably would've just decked the husband, lol. But then we'd have assault charges and yada yada yada... ;) I'm glad you are both ok, though!!!!

    Lol omg I could tell he was fuming. His bottom jaw gets really tense and he squints his eyes a little. He told me he was ready to punch the woman in the face haha. They made us feel like we were the bad guys and like we were going to try and pull one over on them. After I she made the comment about me being upset and being pregnant I should have said "yep. I'm starting to feel a pain and suffering law suit coming on, bitch". Lol. Not that I would ever do that just to do it, but it would have been nice to see her face after haha
