My tip is for breakfast. Keep frozen waffles on hand for a quick, easy meal. Also, if you like eggs in the morning, but don't want to cook every day, make the entire dozen eggs (scrambled, hard boiled, etc.) and put in the fridge. You can heat up a little each morning in less than a minute and it reduces your work!
Always keep plastic bags in your diaper bags for poopy cloth diapers and/or clothes after a blowout. You can get the bag dispenser for dogs that attach to a dog leash. They have cheap refills and the bags are small.
@lofin Munchkin/Arm&Hammer make little bag dispensers too. They look just like the one for my dog, only not in the shape of a dog bone. It's actually cheaper that the doggie bag one too.
Like the eggs, I'll cook a lot of veggies at once and make a fruit salad on Sundays for use throughout the week.
I also keep an emergency bag in my car with binkies, wipes, diapers, burp cloths and toys in case I forget to put something in my diaper bag. I even keep an empty bottle and some formula in case I have a situation where I can't nurse or pump and DS2 is hungry.
Keep your fridge stocked with easy-to-make meals. Sandwich fixings, granola bars, whatever you like to eat and can eat with one hand. Especially if you're nursing, you need to eat, and sometimes baby will choose the exact moment you're hungry to need to be held/finally fall asleep in your arms/want to nurse . . .
The best advice I ever got as a new mom: take a shower every day no matter what.
Baby can hang out in the bathroom with you or someone can watch them. Even if the baby cries, even if you cry. Some days it's the only 10 minutes alone you'll get and you need it. You'll feel so much better afterwards.
Don't compare yourself to other moms. (Especially the ones on Pinterest). I love the quote "We're all in the same game, just different levels. Dealing with the same hell, just different devils." Some days you will be invincible, some days you will feel like you've been run over by a truck. It's okay, everyone feels that way.
I couldn't believe how hungry breastfeeding made me! Having healthier snack options and always a big hug of water nearby. Otherwise I would have demolished a bag of chips easily in a day.
NEVER turn down help offered. If someone asks if they can come clean your house or cook you dinner, don't worry that your hair is a mess or you have dried milk on your shirt... Let. Them. Help.
