I did... isn't that crazy???? The only this that gives me pause is the initial complaint was from a mom in Guam. I'm not geography expert (nor do I play one on tv) but maybe the manufacturer there cut corners and the issue is isolated.
I saw that this morning, too. I am a bit frustrated by the single-story warnings out there (in this case, there may have been a couple others who jumped on board). I think the whole, "Look at what happened to MY baby when we used Pampers!" Or "Look at what this sunscreen did to my son!" originates to steer people away from brands, and I don't find them helpful. It dilutes the authentic parenting advice and cautionary tales that are out there that should be trusted.
I read on Huggies Facebook page where they made a statement and said they do not use any glass in their manufacturing process. They also said they are working with this parent directly to solve the issue. I know that I have bought about 3000 of those wipes already and I hate taking stuff back! Lol I believe if it really is a threat that Huggies will put out a recall. I don't believe they would just blow off something that serious, at least I hope not!
I love using baby wipes to remove my makeup and I've been buying Huggies wipes for years. I have never had glass in my wipes. I still plan on using the wipes I've already bought.
Just some food for thought, the parent That Huggies says they're working with has refused to send her wipes in for testing and is demanding money compensation. So I would really take it with a grain of salt.
Its not glass... As if a massive company like huggies would get away with doing something like that. Its just a compound in the wipes like PP said, and someone out there trying to get money and or attention
The fact that there hasn't been any recalls makes this situation not a big deal to me. Until they do release a recall, I will continue to stock up on huggies wipes. And like baby wipes, I noticed my makeup removal wipes have sparkles in them.
I'm not jumping on the hysteria wagon. If there was truly something wrong and the mom that started the whole thing was genuinely concerned, she would send the wipes in for testing instead of wanting money compensation. I believe Huggies would also do the right thing and conduct a recall if it were needed.
I was not convinced when I first saw this story as I figured it was some ingredient that had not dissolved completely - not glass. If it was glass wouldn't that poor baby have nicks and cuts all over? I used Huggies wipes for the first year of my sons life and never had an issue and really liked them. I only stopped because I switched him to Honest Co diapers and it was just easier to order the wipes as well.
Just as a side note - I work in Pharmaceutical SkinCare - we have a product that a Dr needs to combine a powder/crystal substance with a solution and pour over pads (like clearasil pads) prior to giving to a patient. If this is not done correctly or not given enough time to dissolve prior to putting on the pads it looks like there are shards of glass on top of that as well. I assume that maybe this is a similar situation and Huggies needs to address their manufacturing process, not recall product and cause mass hysteria.
The whole story has been disproven. We have used Huggies on my DD (almost 3 now) since she had a reaction to pampers and honest company. I swear some people will do anything for money!
Re: Huggies wipes with pieces of glass???
This reminds me of the powdered milk scandal in China a few years ago.

I guess you always have to be vigilant and check things when you have a baby...
Everyone needs to calm down before going on the hysteria train.
I love Scary Mommy, @MandahGirly!
