9 hours of contractions and no baby

i had contraction 3 to 5 minutes apart from 6:30pm to 3:30am. Got admitted to the hospital they called it early labor. I am 3cm and 100% thinned and the stupid contractions completely phased out by 4:30am this morning. I have to wait for the doctor to do rounds at 6am before they will discharge me. What a disappointment. Since I am in my 38th week and not 39th week I get to go home and wait. What a waste of a night with no sleep. Anyone else have contractions phase out?

    Me. Spent the weekend in L&d and had same thing happen. Said I was admitted at 4 cm, then went to 6, then shift change and said "no, you're still 4-5 but I can stretch you to a 6". Monitored another few hours with no change and sent me home. I'm not quite 36 weeks, so they were not going to augment labor.

    I haven't had this happen but I'm sorry you're going through that. Sounds like a real mind trip to think you're seeing your babe to only have it end. Hopefully baby just needed some more cooking and will come in due time.

    Yes - day 3 for me. Or maybe day 4... Mine go from 10 min down to 4 and then phase out. This is #3 so I haven't trekked in to L&D yet. 38+1. Honestly I'd rather have a good nights sleep than a baby at this point! ;)

    Early labor is the worst!!! I did this my last labor. Went from 1-4 cm in three hours then stopped. I sat at 4 cm for 3 weeks until I was induced. This time I'm hoping it doesn't happen.

    I haven't had this happen to me, but it did happen to my friend of mine when she was already a few days past her due date. I couldn't believe they sent her home either, I'm sorry !

    It is such a let down when you think it is finally time to meet your bundle of joy! Sorry for all the other mommas in the same boat. This is the pits. Since 4:30am I have been having 1 really strong contraction every 45 minutes but I have come to terms this could last for days.
