3 across (Carseats)

I am googling trying to figure out how to fit 3 across in a 2004 Hyundai Santa Fe (hubs car). I can't post on the Car Seats for the Little's page on FB because we haven't told everybody yet and I know certain people on the page that I don't want them knowing yet... He does 75% of the dropping off in the morning and will need to fit all 3 in the backseat. Anybody have any experience?

6yo 65lbs 55 inches in a Graco No Back Booster

4yo 35lbs 42 inches in a Graco Nautalis

and most likely a Graco infant seat for the baby. I have to buy a new one as ours expired since having #2.

Re: 3 across (Carseats)

  • Yes !!! So glad someone asked this question ! I stare at the backseat of my impala everyday trying to figure out how the heck do I get three car seats back there !
The struggle is real ! Congrats on number three ! This is our third and last also
  • Loading the player...
  • I'm not sure if it would work with the infant seat but the Diono Radian is narrow and can fit 3 across in most vehicles. It might be worth checking out :)
  • We used 2 dionos and a chicco next fit in our sante fe.

  • Diono radian is my recommendation too!

    3 miscarriages - 1 DS (6) - 1 DD (3)  - #3 due March 30!

  • But you should get a angle adjuster on Amazon for the rearfacing dionos. They're 10 bucks

  • I thought about the Radian but since I am not going to be using it rear facing (at least not until the baby would need a convertible) I don't see it working cost wise. My 6yo's  booster is pretty wide and I am sure I can find a slimmer one. I am dreading having to put the baby in the middle because I see him bitching about that. but that's the only way I see this working... :/  I may just have to borrow seats from friends to see what works. Thanks ladies

  • A friend of ours has a Toyota Prius and they fit 3 car seats across, a graco infant car seat in the middle, a booster seat and then a Costco brand forward facing car seat.
  • Dionos are the way to go. Used them since 2008 when they used to be sunshine kids.

    This is awesome
  • I'm wondering this too. Planning to get a mini van before baby but if that doesn't happen I'll need 3 in my Sorento. 2 already makes a space WAY smaller than a carseat in the middle...
  • We got a van. I said I'd never get one, but now I'm in love. I have so much space. Can't wait to start using the 3rd row seating!

Another CSFTL member here :) I'd replace the Nautilus with a Harmony defender, rather than a radian. More cost effective and longer lasting. However, you could use it rf for the baby later (edit: you could use the Radian rf later, not the Defender, which is ff only). I think the Chicco Keyfit is one of the narrowest infant seats as well.

I will need to do a three across in my Equinox too, unless I decide to replace my car. A defender-radian-Keyfit combo (the only seats I have access to right now) worked in mine, but was tight.

I know the 3 gracos won't fit :/ i am going to get a bubblebum for my 6yo and get together with my sister ( who owns different seats) and try some different combinations.

I would prefer not to have to get him a new car brfore baby comes...

I LOVE my van for this reason. We splurged when I was pregnant with #2 because we go places with my with family so often and its great for vacations. If he worked closer to our daycare we could car share. I work 20 min North and he works 20 minutes South :( It would put unneeded miles on my already high mileage van and waste money on gas...
