What age is it ok for a newborn to go in a pool?

My fiance and I were thinking about going for a swim and we aren't sure if its ok to dip our baby boy in the water a little to introduce him to the pool. At what age have you all introduced your babies to the pool?

    Our pediatrian said right away was ok. We put our baby in at almost 7 weeks and she loved it, she actually fell asleep with her feet in!

    My baby is 18 days old and as much as I would like to take her swimming with us and my 5year old I just can't imagine putting her new skin in chlorine. I waited until my son was 3 months before introducing him to the pool.
